Niantic has revealed that a recent glitch in Pokemon Go will be sticking around for a while. The glitch, which eliminates certain requirements needed to evolve Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon, will not be fixed until after the upcoming Eevee Community Day event on August 16.

Specifically, this glitch allows Trainers to evolve Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon without walking the typically required 10 kilometers. This means Trainers will just have to have their Eevee set as their buddy in-game. Niantic tweeted out that they are aware of the glitch and have decided not to implement a fix until after the upcoming Community Day.

Of course, players are happy with the delay in a fix as it makes evolving Eevee into one of these forms much easier and quicker to accomplish. Especially as the upcoming Eevee Community Day, which is taking place on August 14 and 15, will see Eevee appearing more frequently in the wild. There will also be the chance for a shiny Eevee to be caught out in the wild. Plus, any Eevee that is evolved from August 13 to 16 will gain a special attack based on which evolution is chosen with Umbreon gaining Psychic and Espeon gaining Shadow Ball.

Niantic’s decision to keep the glitch in the game may have something to do with the rather negative press the publisher has been receiving lately. Earlier this month it was revealed that Niantic had plans to revert the distances required to interact with PokéStops and Gyms to their pre-pandemic lengths. This was met with a very negative response from the Pokémon Go community, especially in light of the recent Delta Variant that is impacting many communities. The game's community was so upset by the decision that an open letter to Niantic was published by several prominent names in the Pokémon Go community. Last week, Niantic responded to this outcry and promised that they would establish a task force that would aid in determining what changes would be made to the game.

So, if you have yet to evolve Eevee into all of the evolutions possible, now is the perfect time to get started. To get ready for Eevee Community Day and what to expect, you can check out our handy guide.
