Flying-Type Pokémon often go under the radar. They are underappreciated but can still pack a pretty good punch, but only with the right movesets.

In order to succeed in a Pokémon Go battle, the player must choose the right Pokémon. It is vital to get the upper hand and focus on their weakness. Having the right type of Pokémon is all well and good, but it won't necessarily win you the battle.

What is perhaps the most important thing to do is make sure that your favorite Pokémon have the most effective and damaging hits. This is where movesets come in. They allow you to choose the correct quick attack and main attack, placing your Pokémon above the rest and allowing you to plow through battle leagues.

10 Xatu: Air Slash & Future Sight

It is rather surprising to see a smaller Pokémon like Xatu with one of the best flying-type movesets, however his powers, if used correctly, can be particularly powerful.

Air Slash is Xatu's most powerful quick attack doing 14 DPS, although that doesn't sound like a lot, the quick attack builds up energy for a hugely powerful 53.3 DPS main attack. Future Sight is a psychic attack that is effective on a multitude of Pokémon and makes Xatu a pretty good attacker.

9 Fearow: Peck & Sky Attack

Although Fearow's quick attack only does 12 DPS, Peck builds up the energy for an amazing Sky Attack which does 48 DPS. There is a choice for a different attack called Steel Wing which does 13.8 DPS, but in the long run, it is worth choosing Peck.

It should be noted that even though Xatu's moves are more powerful when you take into consideration the same type attack bonus of 20%, Fearow's attacks become stronger and his quick move becomes the best it can have. Even though Fearow is a smaller and more delicate Pokémon, he can still do some pretty good damage.

8 Chatot: Peck & Sky Attack

With the same moveset, it is hard to separate Chatot and Fearow. However, it is ultimately the max CP of 1,791 and the attack of 183 that put Chatot into a different league. Again, that may not sound like much, but for a small Pokémon like this, it makes all the difference.

Once you add in the 20% extra attack for the moves being the same type, Chatot becomes surprisingly powerful and can take on a fair amount of battles, still doing the 12 DPS on its quick attack and the quite large 48 DPS on the main attack.

7 Crobat: Air Slash & Sludge Bomb

Air Slash is one of the more powerful quick attacks to have, doing 14 DPS and restoring 8.3 energy per second. This all builds up to a particularly powerful poison attack. Sludge Bomb, which does 41.7 DPS is not as powerful as Sky Attack but sometimes having a poison attack can put you above the rest.

However, if you wanted a fully flying-type moveset then the next best thing would be Air Cutter which does 26.7 DPS.

6 Swellow: Wing Attack & Sky Attack

It is already known that Sky Attack is one of the strongest main attacks that a flying-type can use. With 48 DPS, the real reason for choosing a quick attack is to build the Pokémon's energy up to be able to deal this amount of damage as quickly as possible.

Wing Attack does the small amount of 12 DPS, but restores an impressive 11.3 EPS! This is what sets Swellow above its counterparts. Aside from the 1,920 max CP, Swellow builds up to its main attack extremely quickly making it more powerful than expected.

5 Dodrio: Steel Wing & Drill Peck

Dodrio could have been so powerful if it had a different main attack. Whilst Drill Peck does 31.3 DPS and is still pretty good, it has the choice of Brave Bird which is the best flying-type main attack in the game, doing an amazing 54 DPS.

However, with Steel Wing doing 13.8 DPS but only restoring 7.5 EPS whilst Brave Bird uses up 50 EPS, it just isn't worth using. Nevertheless, Drill Peck is a good addition to this moveset.

4 Lugia: Extra Sensory & Sky Attack

It is rather surprising to see a legendary Pokémon that isn't extremely powerful. However, with a psychic quick attack that does 13.1 DPS and a main attack that does 48 DPS, Lugia is really nothing that special.

What sets it above the rest who often have more powerful attacks is its max CP of 3,703 that can be extremely useful in a powerful battle. Nevertheless, 48 DPS is still a great amount and with this combination, you have the best chance of doing the most damage and having the best attack.

3 Staraptor: Quick Attack & Brave Bird

The Quick Attack is probably the most classic move in Pokémon Go, however, sometimes it's the best one. With a damage of 12 and an EPS of 12.5, Quick Attack perfectly prepares Staraptor for the best flying-type move in the game.

If you were looking for a complete flying-type moveset then you should choose Wing Attack as it does the same DPS but has an EPS of 11.3 which means that it will take a lot longer to get that amazing Brave Bird attack.

2 Honchkrow: Snarl & Sky Attack

Although Brave Bird is the most powerful main attack, sometimes it just isn't necessary. Especially when it comes to Sky Attack. With a DPS of 48, you end up doing this type of mass damage a lot more regularly. Especially with the addition of Snarl.

Snarl is a dark attack that does 13. 1 DPS and has an EPS of 12.7 meaning that you can get to that main attack a lot quicker than Pokémon like Staraptor.

1 Moltres: Fire Spin & Sky Attack

It made complete sense that a legendary Pokémon like Moltres would take the top spot. When using this moveset, Moltres is the best it can be and proceeds to wreak havoc on any battle you partake in.

Although not a flying-type attack, Fire Spin does a fantastic 15.3 DPS and restores 9.1 EPS which allows you to do some wonderful damage all whilst preparing for Sky Attack to destroy any enemy you face.
