Pokemon GO's next ticketed event has been glimpsed in the game's App Store page. It is titled A Colossal Discovery and appears to be the game's first in-game version of Go Fest. There have been various in-game events like Community Days, Research Days, and Raid Days. Apart from those Niantic has hosted ticketed gatherings at designated locations such as GO Fest and Safari Zone. However, they have never attempted a ticketed in-game event that was accessible globally.

How 'A Colossal Discovery' Works

A Colossal Discovery is set to take place on November 2, as an all-day event from 11AM to 7PM local time. The best part is there is no designated venue. The Go Fest-like event is coming to you, no hotels or plane tickets required! Tickets are set at a price of $7.99, £7.99, or €8.99 and likely grant access to an in-game questline and some bonus content. The event is said to culminate with the capture of legendary Pokemon, Regigigas.

The phrasing of the title is reminiscent of prior in-game research events, which offered standalone Pokemon as a reward. Coincidentally or not, Regigigas is a stand-a-lone Pokemon native to the Sinnoh region. It yields some very specific requirements to obtain, being available only at Snow Mountain Temple under the condition that the trainer has the 3 other legendary Pokemon counterparts (Regice, Registeel and Regirock) in their party. Given this information it would make sense that the questline may entail special research regarding this trio, building up to the final discovery of Regigigas.

Other Possible Rewards

The chance of gleaning additional localized spawns, available only to ticket holders, is also a strong possibility. Niantic tested a mechanic like this as compensation for the rained-out Chicago GO Fest 2019. It granted the weather-weary trainers the opportunity to catch the festival spawns in their own neighborhoods.

Niantic has yet to release too much info about the event itself. This is merely insightful speculation based off of Pokemon GO's prior event patterns, main series lore, and the little information that has been released about A Colossal Discovery thus far. Niantic will be breaking new ground with this event, stirring up hopes amongst fans that the GO Fest experience will soon be available worldwide.
