Niantic continues to expand Pokemon Go's Pokedex, confirming that Inkay and Malamar will be the next two Pokemon added to the game.

Pokemon is having what might be its biggest and most jam-packed year ever to celebrate turning 25. New Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Unite have already been added to its massive roster of games, and the much-anticipated Diamond and Pearl remakes are still to come in the fall. Not to mention Pokemon Legends: Arceus in January 2022.

In the meantime, Pokemon Go has been going about its business running events and further expanding its Pokedex. As for the next Pokemon coming to the AR game, that was revealed by Niantic this week. Inkay and Malamar will be the next two additions during this year's Psychic Spectacular event. The event starts on September 8 and will run through September 13.

Inkay will presumably be found in the wild, and probably hatch from eggs too. Evolving it into a Malamar is going to be a little different from every other evolution already in Pokemon Go, though. As Niantic highlights in its post, players familiar with the Pokemon in X and Y, or other games Inkay has appeared in since, will know what they need to do to evolve the psychic-type.

In the main series of Pokemon games, Inkay not only needs to be level 30 to evolve into Malamar, but you also need to hold your console upside down. While not specified, players will presumably need to have a set amount of candy to evolve Inkay in Pokemon Go while also holding their device upside down. They're not called the revolving and overturning Pokemon respectively for no reason.

New Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go thick and fast. It recently got its first batch of monsters from the Galar region. Seven of them to be exact including Wooloo and Skwovet. Not to mention legendary Pokemon Zamazenta and Zacian which were available for a limited time through raids. They're both gone for now but will return to five-star raids in the future.
