The possibility that Pokémon GO would incorporate Mega Evolution has more than piqued the interest of players over the past couple of months. Until fairly recently though, such a development has been just that: a possibility. However, a recent tweet from the game's official account implies that the introduction of Mega Evolution is impending.

Questions regarding how exactly Mega Evolution would function within the game remain unanswered. Officially, it's still unclear if the Mega Evolved forms of various Pokémon will be distinct, permanent evolutions to be captured in their given state - as is the case with Giratina - or whether there will be other requirements to access a given Pokémon's Mega Evolved state. Luckily, a tease of a tweet isn't the only information out there.

While the official tweet from the Pokémon GO Twitter merely states that "MEGA news" is coming, along with an image of three stones imprinted with the Mega Evolution symbol on a grassy background, it offers little information beyond that. However, soon after the tweet  in question was posted, the PokeMiners - a collective of dataminers specializing in Pokémon GO - released a few tweets of their own sharing the Mega Evolution-related info embedded in a recent game update.

Building off information that the PokeMiners had previously revealed via tweets and reddit posts, their tweet revealed a number of Mega Evolution assets - namely, Mega Raid Wan and Mega Raid Eggs - as well as images of the few Pokémon that have had their Mega Evolved forms added to the game's coding so far: Venusuar, Charizard X, Charizard Y, Blastoise, Beedrill, and Pidgeot.

Considering the reveal of Mega Raid Eggs and Mega Raid Wan, it can be assumed that players will be able to go up against Mega Evolved Pokémon in Raid Battles. Other information uncovered by the PokeMiners seems to establish the importance of "Mega Energy." Functioning similarly to the way that Candy does in the game, a certain amount of Mega Energy will be needed for a Pokémon to Mega Evolve, and this evolved state would only last until the Pokémon's Mega Energy level goes down.

Although the PokeMiners are sharing information that is already embedded within the game's data, the actual applications and final functions of the data are likely to change once these new features are made playable. Yet, until Niantic officially releases more information, players are bound to continue to whet their appetites for Mega Evolution with the insight the PokeMiners have provided.
