The Pokedex in Pokemon Go is about to get a bit bigger. Two new Legendary Pokemon are making their way to the mobile game this May. Xerneas, the Life Pokemon, and Yveltal, the Destruction Pokemon, will be appearing in five-star raids throughout the month. Xerneas will be up first, showing up in raids beginning May 4.

According to the official Pokemon Go website, Xerneas will be released as part of the game's Luminous Legends X event. Along with Xerneas, various Dragon- and Fairy-type Pokemon will be appearing more often in the wild, including ones that have not made an appearance in Pokemon Go before. During the second week of this event, players can also complete challenges to unlock rewards. This event will end on May 17.

Meanwhile, Yveltal will show up as part of the Luminous Legends Y event. This will take place beginning May 18 and Dark-type Pokemon will be found more often in the wild. Plus, during this event Team GO Rocket is planning to cause some trouble for players so be on the look out. Again, players will be able to complete challenges to unlock rewards during the second week of the event. This event will end on May 31.

May will also see players trying to rescue Shadow Moltres from Giovanni. Players can complete the Team GO Rocket Special Research "The Higher They Fly..." to obtain a Super Rocket Radar. This item will help players track down Giovanni and save Shadow Moltres. If they haven't completed the Special Research, a Super Rocket Radar will be available as one of the Timed Research available during the Luminous Legends X event.

Beginning May 1 and running the whole month, players can encounter Galarian Ponyta through Research Breakthrough encounters. Plus, Incarnate Forme Tornadus, Incarnate Forme Thundurus, and Incarnate Forme Landorus will continue to appear in five-star raids until May 4. And, every Wednesday in May, a Raid Hour event featuring the Pokemon appearing in five-star raids that week will occur from 6PM to 7PM local time. Players can gain extra XP for completing five-star raids throughout Season of Legends.

Also, in anticipation for the upcoming release of New Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Go will be holding a celebration event from April 29 to May 2. During this time, the mega-popular mobile game will have an event inspired by the photography-focused game and the Lental Region where the game takes place. Pokemon from this region will appear more often and new items will become available.

You can find out more about the events taking place throughout May at Pokemon Go's website.
