If you're playing Pokemon Go and have a PokeStop nearby, but don't see as many Pokemon spawns as you'd like, consider using a Lure Module. When placed on a PokeStop, they'll attract Pokemon for a full 30 minutes, and sometimes even longer during special events. Using this, you can get a veritable smorgasbord of Pokemon without having to walk another country mile.

But which lure will help you the most? What is the best Lure module? There are six Lure Modules: the standard one, four Special Lures, and the Golden Lure. Here is each one with which Pokemon it will attract, as well as other uses they have — namely, evolving certain Pokemon.

Updated December 8, 2023, by Sean Murray: If you're wondering what comes when you place a Lure down in Pokemon Go, this guide has you covered. We've got every Pokemon attracted by Lure Modules and what Pokemon evolve when near one. We've also updated this guide with improved formatting and more links to other helpful Pokemon Go topics.

What Lure Modules Are & How To Get Them

Pokemon Go Lure Modules

Lure Modules lure Pokemon to your location. They are used on PokeStops and last for 30 minutes. Other players can also use the Lure you place — the Pokemon show up for everyone, unlike an Incense. Regular Lures attract any nearby Pokemon, while Special Lures attract certain individual Pokemon. They're tied to types, but they don't just attract any Pokemon of that type.

When you place a standard Lure Module, ten Pokemon will spawn for 30 minutes (under normal circumstances). Special Lure Modules that attract specific types of Pokemon will attract 20 Pokemon in 30 minutes

However, only ten of those 20 will be special spawns. The others will be the regular Pokemon in the area, like a regular Lure Module.

Most Lure Modules can be purchased from the shop using PokeCoins. Standard Lure Modules are also obtained when you reach certain levels. Plus, Lure Modules may also be a reward for completing Research Tasks.

The only Lure Module that can't be purchased with PokeCoins is the Golden Lure Module.

Pokemon Go Battle League - Season 14: World Of Wonders Guide
The latest Pokemon Go season brings several changes and additions to the Go Battle League - here's all you need to know!

Standard Lure Module: What Pokemon It Attracts

a pokemon go lure module as seen in the in-game shop

This Lure Module has been in the game since its inception. It's fairly straightforward: it'll attract Pokemon from the surrounding area. It doesn't attract any particular Pokemon, just increases the general spawn rate.

This Lure is handy for catching a bunch of the regular spawns you'd see around the area, but you don't feel like walking around (or can't, for some reason).

Glacial Lure Module: What Pokemon It Attracts & Evolves

Pokemon GO Glacial Lure

Glacial Lure Modules were one of the three Special Lures added during Gen IV's rollout into Pokemon GO. They'll attract Ice- and Water-type Pokemon and Eevee to the PokeStop on which they are placed.

Attracted Pokemon

The following Pokemon are currently attracted to the Glacial Lure:

Eevee

Jynx

Totodile

Swinub

Snorunt

Mantine

Spheal

Piplup

Snover

Oshawott

Evolving Eevee into Glaceon

When you're in range of a Glacial Lure Module, you can evolve any Eevee into Glaceon. It will still cost you 25 Eevee Candies, like any other Eeveelution. This can be done as often as you want if you're still within range of the PokeStop with the Glacial Lure Module.

Mossy Lure Module: What Pokemon It Attracts & Evolves

Pokemon GO Mossy Lure Module

Mossy Lures were added at the same time as Glacial Lures and work in the same way, but they will instead attract Bug-, Grass-, and Poison-type Pokemon, as well as Eevee.

Attracted Pokemon

The following Pokemon will show up at a PokeStop with a Mossy Lure Module placed on it:

Eevee

Oddish

Bellsprout

Venonat

Tangela

Sudowoodo

Hoppip

Yanma

Roselia

Cherubi

Evolving Eevee into Leafeon

When you're within the range of an active Mossy Lure Module PokeStop, you can spend 25 Eevee Candies to evolve an Eevee into a Leafeon. This can be done with as many Eevee as you want until the Lure finishes.

Magnetic Lure Module: What Pokemon It Attracts & Evolves

Pokemon GO Magnetic Lure Module

Magnetic Lure is the third Special Lure Module in the trio added during Gen IV's rollout into Pokemon GO. It'll run for 30 minutes and attract Rock-, Electric-, and Steel-type Pokemon.

Attracted Pokemon

The following Pokemon will visit a PokeStop with a Magnetic Lure Module attached:

Pikachu

Geodude

Magnemite

Voltorb

Electrode

Jolteon

Nosepass

Aron

Beldum

Joltik

Evolving Magneton into Magnezone and Nosepass into Probopass

Magnezone and ProboPass pokemon models

The Magnetic Lure Module will also enable two different Pokemon evolutions. However, this time it's not an Eeveelution (not even Jolteon, although a Rock- or Steel-type Eeveelution would be great).

When in range of a PokeStop fitted with a Magnetic Lure, Magneton will evolve into Magnezone for the price of 100 Magnemite Candies, and Nosepass will evolve into Probopass for 50 Nosepass Candies.

Rainy Lure Module: What Pokemon It Attracts & Evolves

Rainy Lure Module Pokemon GO

The Pokemon that will be attracted to a Rainy Lure are Water-, Bug-, and Electric-types, the same three types more likely to spawn when the in-game weather is rain.

Attracted Pokemon

When you're near a PokeStop with a Rainy Lure active, you should see the following Pokemon:

Psyduck

Spinarak

Chinchou

Surskit

Electrike

Joltik

Tympole

Tynamo

Stunfisk

Froakie

Evolving Sliggoo into Goodra

The Rainy Lure can enable a Pokemon evolution like the other Special Lures. When in range of a PokeStop fitted with a Rainy Lure Module, you can evolve Sliggoo into Goodra. This will also cost 100 Goomy Candies.

Unlike the other Lure-based evolutions, Sliggoo can also evolve into Goodra when the overworld weather is rainy in your game.

The Golden Lure Module: How It Works & What It Attracts

pokemon go golden lure gimmighoul gholdengo

The Golden Lure is unlike all of the other lures. It is part of a special promotional process relating to the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It is only acquired from sending postcards to the console game, as described above.

This lure will transform a PokeStop into a Golden Stop. Like other Lures, it attracts specific Pokemon, but it also has a few other benefits. When you spin the PokeStop, it will give you more of the regular items than a normal PokeStop (or a PokeStop with a different lure on it) would give. In addition, spinning the Pokestop will give you a special item: Gimmighoul Coins, which are used to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo.

Attracted Pokemon

The only Pokemon that a Golden Lure attracts especially is Gimmighoul.

What Lure Attracts Ghost-Type Pokemon?

Unfortunately, several Pokemon types have not received preferential treatment from Lure Modules. Some of the most in-demand type lures are Ghost, Psychic, and Fire. Currently, there is no way to increase the spawn rates of lures for these and other types. If you want more of these types, you'll have to find them without the help of lures.
