Pokemon Go continues to add to its catalog of available Mega Evolutions, rolling them out exclusively through their Raiding feature. These Pokemon can be found in Mega Raids, tasking you and your allies with defeating these challenging opponents in exchange for Mega Energy.

The latest Pokemon that is being brought to the game is Mega Pinsir, allowing you to obtain this Mega Evolution upon the successful completion of its Mega Evolution. Being a brand-new Pokemon in the game, it might be tricky putting together an effective team for this Raid battle, but we've put together a guide to help you do exactly that.

Although it may be hard to get together a group of Trainers to Raid with, defeating Mega Pinsir won't require your Raiding group to be exceptionally large. Putting together a group of three to five players should do the trick, allowing you and your allies to comfortably defeat Mega Pinsir in the allotted time.

To truly ensure that you successfully complete this Raid, do your best to Raid with higher-leveled players. Players with more experience tend to have access to rarer, more powerful Pokemon, maximizing your Raid groups overall effectiveness with their inclusion.

If you feel that your Raid group is lacking when it comes to firepower, definitely take advantage of the Mega Evolution and Primal Reversion features.

This will boost the effectiveness of the Pokemon that you choose to Mega Evolve or Primal Revert, in addition to supercharging certain attack types that you and your allies use in the Raid.

Mega Pinsir: Strengths And Weaknesses

Mega Pinsir from Pokemon with the Pokemon Go battlefield as the background

With Mega Pinsir's Bug and Flying dual-typing, there are very specific types of Pokemon that you'll want to use and avoid. Adding to the difficulty of this Mega Raid, Mega Pinsir has a standard resistance to one attack type, double resistances to two attack types, and even a triple resistance to another attack type.

This includes a standard resistance to Bug-type attacks, double resistances to Fighting and Grass-type attacks, and a triple resistance to Ground-type attacks. Definitely avoid using Pokemon wielding these types of attacks, especially those that Mega Pinsir is double and triple resistant to.

Fortunately, the strong resistances of Mega Pinsir is balanced out by a handful of key weaknesses. This Mega Evolution has weaknesses to Flying, Fire, Electric, and Ice-type attacks, and has a double-weakness to Rock-type attacks.

You will find the most success in the Raid battle when taking advantage of Mega Pinsir's specific vulnerabilities, most importantly, its extreme weakness to Rock-type Pokemon and attacks.

If you're looking to deal as much damage as possible in this Raid, increase the effectiveness of your attacks through the Same Type Attack Bonus mechanic.

To benefit from STAB, make sure that you're using Pokemon with attacks that match their specific type.

Possessing a double-weakness to Rock-type attacks, Rock-type Pokemon with Rock-type attacks are vastly more effective than those of other types. If possible, put together a team of six powerful Rock-type Pokemon, allowing you to deal as much damage as possible.

Below you can find Pokemon that are specifically recommended for this Raid, with type combinations and moves that statistically perform the best.

It's not expected that you have access to all top-tier Pokemon found below.

Don't worry if you are using other strong Rock-type Pokemon, as this Raid will still be able to be completed.
