Quick Links
Regional Pokemon in Pokemon Go are found all over the world. They add a special touch to the in-game experience; after all, everyone loves to feel like they have something exclusive. Why else would there be shiny Pokemon?
If you're going on vacation, you can track down a couple of these bad boys (though it may not be as fun as you think)! This article details everything you need to know about Regional Exclusive Pokemon in the game and where to find them all.
What Are Regional Exclusives?
Regional Exclusive Pokemon are certain Pokemon in the game that can't be found everywhere. You can only catch them if you're playing the game somewhere specific. Tropius, for example, is found almost exclusively in Africa. In some cases, the Pokemon can technically be caught all over the world, but different forms are Regional Exclusive. For example, West Sea Shellos (pink) is found only in the Western Hemisphere, and East Sea Shellos (blue) is only found in the Eastern Hemisphere.
This mechanic encourages a lot of players to cheat by tricking the game into thinking they're somewhere else in the world, but don't give in to temptation; Pokemon Go is pretty good at rooting out and banning those people.
In this article, we divide the Regional Pokemon in the game into 7 areas (generally by continent):
- Africa
- Asia & Fiji
- Australia & New Zealand
- Europe
- The Middle East
- North America
- South America
