AR game Pokemon GO is a mobile title for fans of the Pokemon franchise that allows you to keep your favorite fictional animals, right on your phone! It's like modern Tamagotchi. Every so often, Pokemon from newer generations are added to the game's roster so that players can catch them.

Despite being required for a number of very popular Pokemon evolutions, Sinnoh Stones that allow them to evolve are quite hard to come by. There are two reliable ways to earn Sinnoh Stones: via PVP Battling and Research Breakthroughs. The truly desperate players can always keep an eye out for what the rewards will be on Community Days.

Get Sinnoh Stones Through Research Breakthroughs

Field research is a part of the reward system in Pokemon Go. The menu can be found by clicking the binoculars symbol in the bottom right corner and swiping over to the 'Field' tab.

There, you get simple tasks to perform. Completing a task will provide a stamp (though only one stamp can be earned per day) and once you've earned seven stamps there's a "Research Breakthrough."

The small tasks provide simple rewards but will never provide Sinnoh Stones. However, there is a reasonable chance that the Research Breakthrough will reward you with a Sinnoh Stone. Since it takes seven days to do, though, you'll only get one shot per week - maximum.

Get Sinnoh Stones Through PVP Battles

It's very rare but there's a small chance to obtain Sinnoh Stones during PVP battles. Players have reportedly received them both as a reward for winning and as a consolation prize for losing. Though it's a smaller chance than via Research Breakthroughs, you're able to play several PVP rounds to earn rewards per day.

To play PVP, enter the main menu (by clicking the PokeBall icon in the middle-bottom of your screen) and click the option in the top right labeled 'Battle.'

Get Sinnoh Stones Through Community Days

Once a month, there's a "Community Day" in Pokemon Go. This means that one Pokemon will be "featured" (they'll appear a lot and earn a bonus move if evolved that day).

On one Community Day in February, Sinnoh Stones were given out as a guaranteed reward for fighting Team Leaders and other players. We don't usually know much in advance of the Community Days so it's hard to anticipate what the featured bonus move or rewards will be - but if you're truly desperate, it can't hurt to keep an ear out.
