It's time for another Pokemon Go event, available for a limited time and offering several exciting features and bonuses. Titled the Test Your Mettle Event, this will be themed around various Steel-type Pokemon, debuting a handful of Pokemon for the first time in Pokemon Go.

Test Your Mettle will take place from Friday, September 16, at 10 AM to Wednesday, September 21, at 8 PM, but some aspects of this event will extend past this window. We've got you covered with all details regarding this event, allowing you to fully take advantage of it and all the bonuses that are being offered.

Pokemon Debuts

Celesteela And Kartana

This event will mark the introduction of two Ultra Beasts were previously unavailable in Pokemon Go: Celesteela and Kartana. These Pokemon can be found in five-star Raids until Tuesday, September 27, presenting you with a challenging encounter for you and other Trainers.

Celesteela will only be available to those residing in the Southern Hemisphere while Kartana will only be available to those in the Northern Hemisphere.

Mega Aggron

Mega Aggron will also be making its Pokemon Go debut during this event. This Mega Evolution can be found in Mega Raids from Friday, September 16, to Tuesday, September 27. Team up with other Trainers to defeat this powerful Raid Pokemon, providing you an opportunity to earn Aggron Mega Energy and an encounter with Aggron.

Togedemaru

Lastly, the Test Your Mettle Event will host the debut of Togedemaru. Unlike the other debuts mentioned previously, this Pokemon can be found and encountered in the wild; offering you an easier acquisition method. That being said, make sure to log in during the event window to ensure that you are finding and catching Togedemaru, as it will be appearing in the wild more frequently during this time.

Event Bonuses

Three PokeBalls from Pokemon Go

Throughout the course of this event, there will be two bonuses that will be available for its entire duration. When you catch Pokemon using either Nice, Great, or Excellent Throws, you will earn an increased amount of Candy and have a higher chance of obtaining Candy XL.

Make sure to carefully aim your PokeBalls when attempting to catch a Pokemon due to this, as Candy XL is often hard to come by and extremely valuable for those trying to power up their Pokemon with high CP.

Wild Encounter Pokemon

During this event, you will see and increase in certain Steel-type Pokemon appearing in the wild. Make sure to stock up on PokeBalls and adventure during the event window to encounter and catch the following Pokemon.

Additionally, there will be several Steel-type Pokemon appearing in Raids during the Test Your Mettle Event. Make sure to team up with other Trainers to take on and catch these powerful Raid Pokemon while they are available, each provided below with tier of Raid that they can be found in.

Following this event's theme, there will be specific Steel-type Pokemon that can be obtained when hatching Eggs during the event window. These Pokemon will only hatch from 7KM Eggs, each provided below.

  • Galarian Stunfisk

Event Research

Field Research Tasks

When completing Field Research tasks during this event, you will have the chance to earn an encounter with one of seven Steel-type Pokemon. Make sure to visit PokeStops to obtain these Field Research tasks, giving you the opportunity to encounter and catch the following Pokemon.

Additionally, when completing some Field Research task, you will earn either Steelix or Scizor Mega Energy. Again, make sure to complete these tasks if possible, as Mega Energy is rare and often difficult to acquire.

Timed Research

There will also be Timed Research available during the Test Your Mettle Event. Tasks for this Timed Research will be centered around catching Steel-type Pokemon, so make sure that you are adventuring and doing so to earn the following rewards.
