Pokémon GO Water Festival: All The Quests And Rewards

The Water Festival event has come to Pokémon GO once more. As the name implies, the goal is to catch Water-type Pokémon. There are some differences in the 2019 version, however. For one, you're rewarded for actually going to water. You'll actually see increased spawns of possibly-shiny Pokémon like Lapras and Lotad near lakes, rivers, and oceans. Don't fret if you live in a dry area, though. Magikarp, Wailmer, and more are still available everywhere in plentiful amounts. Finally, Barboach and Carvanha have been added to the shiny pool.

The other important aspect of the event is special research tasks. These can be found by spinning PokéStops until the event's end (Aug. 30th). Some of these tasks will reward you with rare Pokémon or Pokémon that can be shiny. We're going to show you all of these quests, and tell you exactly what reward you can get.

Water Festival: Earn A Candy Walking With Your Buddy - Barboach

This one, like all walking tasks comes easily. Put one foot in front of the other until your phone decides to track enough kilometers. Chances are you're walking a Pokémon for the Jirachi quest anyway, so you can clear this one multiple times. Good thing, because Barboach is one of the new shinies in this event.

Water Festival: Catch 5 Water-Type Pokémon- Krabby

Since this is the Water Festival, catching Water-types is another thing you're just doing anyway. Might as well get a Krabby out of it. Krabby can be shiny, and happens to have just gained the powerful new Crabhammer move. Catching a group to act as your Water-type raid team is a good idea.

Water Festival: Catch 10 Water-Type Pokémon - 1,000 Stardust

Stardust is a valuable currency in Pokémon GO. It's always nice to have more. That said, if you don't trade or battle a lot, you might have a stock of dust sitting there collecting... more dust? Whether or not you do this quest over others is up to you.

Water Festival: Evolve 3 Carvanha Or Barboach - Clamperl

Here we go! Clamperl is quite rare, being featured in a one-day event and then relegated to rare wild spawn status. It also has the unfortunate property of evolving at random. If you're one of those players who keeps getting only one of Clamperl's evolutions, now's your chance to catch enough to get the other.

Water Festival: Hatch 5 Eggs - Blastoise

Cool? If for some reason you never got a Blastoise, this quest is for you. Some trainers might choose to save the reward for a bonus Stardust day so they can farm it. This is because evolved forms give you more dust. Most of us, though, are better off looking for the other quests.

Water Festival: Win 2 raids - Azumarill

Again, this one is kind of meh. You probably already have an Azumarill. It can't even be shiny, so drop it.

Water Festival: Defeat a Team GO Rocket Grunt - Carvanha

This one is interesting just because it's the first to feature fighting Team Rocket as a quest. It also features Carvanha, one of the newly-shiny Pokémon. This one is worth your time if you have the potions and revives to go around hunting Rocket goons.

Water Festival: Take 5 Snapshots of water-type Pokémon - Seel

Very easy to do, and a possible shiny reward to boot. There's no reason not to take this one.

That's it! Happy hunting, and get those shinies!
