While Pokémon games are well known as solid games, quality control-wise, the Nintendo seal of quality has wanned in the years and effected the pokémon series. While the original Red/Blue titles are famously glitchy, many of those bugs and glitches were mastered in future games until Gamefreak's jump into modern gaming with 3D models and visuals.

Like most 3D games not every movement can be perfected and for a studio that is mostly known for handheld games, which has become a bad word already in the 3D title land as a platform for cheaper graphics and glitchier versions of existing games. Gamefreak was not invulnerable to those mistakes. So here are 10 hilarious glitches found in Pokémon games.

10 Surfing on Land (Ruby & Sapphire)

One thing you bever thought you'd read in a sentence is surfing on land, and not used ironically but literally. In Ruby and Sapphire, there were multiple ways to create this glitch where you could make your pokémon surf on land and not the sea, essentially tricking the game on where the water is.

It works a lot like the bike as it will get you places faster but the set up for it is much more difficult than pressing a button to make your bike appear. You pretty much are running around on your Tentacruel as it quickly flops around on the ground, begging for mercy and a fresh glass of water.

9 Sudden Bike Appearing (Sword & Shield)

This was one of the earliest glitches found by a player of Sword and Shield. What happens is before you ever get a bike during the early part of the game, it will suddenly appear and now you're riding a bike.

You don't know where it came from, it just appeared out of nowhere, and you dazed as you ride around wondering if it was some act of God where he thought you were going to slow in your journey. But has been given can be taken away as entering abuilding will make the bike go away until you officially get it after the first gym.

8 Floating Partner Pokémon ( Soul Silver & Heart Gold)

This takes very specific timing and menu pressing while jumping a cliff edge. Every time you press the menu button your pokémon that was trustfully following you will float higher in the air and can even go off-screen, much like the Knuckles glitch in Sonic Boom.

While pokémon like Drifbloom exist, with this glitch you can turn anything into a balloon as they try to sorrowfully reach for you and you repeatedly mashing a button to see if a pokémon can reach space.

7 The Facade Float (Diamond & Pearl)

Another gen 4 floats glitch where this time it can happen during battle. When a weak pokémon uses facade enough times, the sprite will start to lift up higher on the screen. This will show the unfished lower half of the sprite, making you realized half your pokémon don't even have legs.

It's possible to make your half-a-pokémon float off-screen if facade is used enough. Have fun battling from mid-air while you pokémon floats around like it just came out of The Exorcist.

6 The Broken X Edition (Pokémon X)

There is out there an incomplete version of Pokémon X that's missing major textures and pieces. This one of a kind copy has a whole slew of glitches in it where people are missing faces and odd little pieces.

It's possible that this might have been damaged a cartridge that created the missing information and textures, but it's hilarious to see invisible people running around the overworld in this visual glitch.

5 Sword Arm Mom (Sun & Moon)

This extremely special glitch is a rarity where you mom in Sun and Moon grows a long fleshy spike and looks ready to clobber you with it, perhaps by accident with how long it is.

It seemed to be a texture glitch from when she touched the door, but her hand didn't follow so she turned into Gumby to compensate. It's also possible that a morph replaced your character's mom and she's actually in the closet waiting for the police to arrive.  Either way, duck while she's moving around.

4 Dimensional Tweak Explorer (Diamond & Pearl)

One of the most famous glitches in all of Pokémon is the Void glitch. This glitch allows you to go anywhere and get walled off secret event pokémon. It can be done in multiple ways, but once you've done it, the game is severely broken and allows you to do anything if you can accurately navigate the blackness.

You essentially become a dimensional portal master able to go anywhere, even sneak past the whole game and register yourself as a pokémon champion without ever owning a pokémon, or worse yet, become a pokémon champion with only a Bidoof.

3 Really Long Hair (Sword and Shield)

This recent glitch was found with one of the hair textures. It ends up flipping around and growing super long and almost blade like. If you thought Swordward had horrible hair, at least with his blade-themed hair he could see.

Your character's sight is completely blocked off. No 3D game is invincible against visual glitches but this one is somewhere on the same level as the lesser WWE 2K20 visual glitches. It's a good look for the edgiest of pokémon trainers.

2 Chase a Pokemart Salesman Up a Tree (Ruby & Sapphire)

This funny little glitch is caused when your bag is full when you first speak to the salesperson who guides you to the first pokemart to give you a potion at the start of the game. He snobbily tells you "You're BAG is FULL!!" giving you the chance to wander off to route 203 and come back, which resets the area allowing you to talk to him again.

If you talk to him again he will run with you in tow through the wall of the Pokemart like a Loony Tunes cartoon then up a tree that's supposed to act as a barricade for the overworld. He will be permanently stuck up that tree that's off the map for the rest of the game, probably because there are no firefighters in the pokémon world willing to help him.

1 Forcing Trainers Through Obstacles to Battle you (Ruby & Sapphire)

One of the funniest glitches that Ruby and Sapphire goes through is their over-determined trainers who will go through fire if they had to just to get their butts beat at a pokémon battle. They do just that if your standing in the right place. One will run up a one-way cliff edge just to approach you to battle, a swimmer will swim right through one of those invisible sea rocks, and a child in the crashed boat will battle you from the other side of the wall.

That kid will literally fuse together with the wall just to be able to battle you, he's that determined, and never mind the fact he can see right through the wall to know you're there, to begin with.
