Pokemon Home landed on Nintendo Switch and mobile as a way to compile all of your Pokemon from across the many games in the franchise. While Home is not technically a game, it does offer its users rewards for completing certain tasks and hitting certain milestones.

Below is a list of all of the milestone Pokemon we have discovered to be rewards so far. Some of them mark events, while others celebrate your accomplishments! Most can still be acquired, but there are a few exceptions.

Updated on June 18, 2023, by Gabrielle Huston: A number of new gift/event Pokemon have been added to Pokemon Home since this article was published. We've updated it with all the new details so that you're fully prepared to receive the gifts you undoubtedly deserve!

How To Receive Gift/Event Pokemon

Mystery Gift
via Nintendo
Mystery Gift

On mobile, from the main menu after tapping to enter the app, click on the button with several horizontal lines on the middle-bottom of the screen. From there, select the 'Mystery Gifts' option. The Pokemon we detail below will either already be in your Gift Box or they will be part of an event, so you should tap the Local Event Check option.

You can't accept Mystery Pokemon in the Pokemon Home app on the Nintendo Switch, so you need to use the mobile app. Even if the requirements task you with doing something on the Switch, you'll need to go to the mobile app to claim your prize.

Original Color Magearna

Shiny Magearna with clouds.

Release Date

February 14, 2020

Still Attainable?

Yes

Magearna in its original colour is so rare that Home users weren't really sure whether to believe the first batch of people to claim they had received one. The reward is real, however, and it requires you to complete the entire National Pokedex. At the time of this writing, that's 917 Pokemon to collect. Better get started quick! Every time they release a new Pokemon game, your dream gets further and further away.

The Magearna will be available as a gift in your Gift Box for one month after you complete the National Pokedex. It will be level 50, so nothing to be sniffed at, and this rare version of the Fairy-type has never been attainable in the Pokemon series before.

Eevee

Eevee looks ahead with a quizzical expression.

Release Date

February 12, 2020

Still Attainable?

Yes

One of the best features of Home is the ability to trade Pokemon with other users of the service. There are a number of ways to perform trades, one of which is the Wonder Box. Drop a Pokemon in the Wonder Box, and it might be picked up by a fellow trainer without you even needing to be online. Once that happens for the first time, you will receive a complimentary Eevee when you log back in. The Eevee will be available for a month after your first Wonder Box trade.

Rotom

rotom-1

Release Date

February 12, 2020

Still Attainable?

Yes

The only problem with trading Pokemon via Wonder Box is the element of randomness attached to it. Trainers who want more certainty from their trades need to use GTS. Not only can players pick which Pokemon they want to trade, but they can also specify which one they are looking to receive. The first time a Pokemon deposited in a trainer's GTS is taken, they will receive a Rotom as a reward. The Rotom will be available for a month after the trade is made.

Pichu

Release Date

February 12, 2020

Still Attainable?

Yes

Even though Home isn't technically a Pokemon game, there are still challenges for its users to complete. Most of those challenges require nothing more than trainers to deposit certain Pokemon caught in certain games. The first time a trainer completes one of those challenges, Home will reward them with a Pichu. The Pichu will be available for a month after your first complete challenge.

Challenges are not the same thing as Research Tasks.

Release Date

February 12, 2020

One of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make when we first fired up Pokemon Red and Blue was the decision of which starter Pokemon to pick. When we downloaded Home on mobile, we were faced with that decision all over again. Users are rewarded with one of the original starters for using Home on mobile.

Unlike the other starter collections detailed above, players will only receive one of these three Kanto starters.

Last, but not least, the easiest milestone of all to complete: simply starting up Home for the first time. This milestone can be achieved on mobile or Switch and completing it will reward the user with a Pikachu. Okay, most will probably already have a Pikachu, but come on. It's something for nothing, so stop complaining.
