Pokemon Legends Arceus is here, bringing a new twist to the classic formula by transporting players to the region of Hisui, a vast continent full of life, exciting adventures, and new challenges. After becoming part of the Galaxy Team you will start completing requests from the many villagers in Jubilife Town, which will help you meet different Pokemon, some more special than others.

One of those special Pokemon is a shiny Ponyta, a beautifully colored variant of the loved horse Pokemon, sporting blue flames instead of the usual. This request serves as an introduction to this kind of Pokemon, rewarding you with the opportunity to catch this prized Ponyta in the Obsidian Fieldlands.

How To Unlock “A Peculiar Ponyta” Request

To obtain this request, you must check the Laventon request board in his office from time to time, until you notice the #19 request, called “A Peculiar Ponyta.” You should find it available on the board after you have completed requests, built up your Pokedex a bit, and overall progressed through the game.

After commencing, all you need to do is to go and talk to Yota, the man standing on the bridge next to the farm fields in Jubilife Village. Doing so will trigger a cutscene with Yota explaining a rumor about a strange Ponyta and asking you to check it out for him.

You must go to the Obsidian Fieldlands, more specifically to Horseshoe Plains where Ponytas usually spawn. After walking for a bit, you will notice the shiny Ponyta walking around. Another small cutscene will happen, and then you'll be able to catch it, but keep in mind that it will run away if it notices you.

Be careful at all times and sneak your way closer to it until you're able to throw a Pokeball.

If done correctly, you should have captured the shiny Ponyta, after which you must go and speak once again with Yota, shedding light on the rumor and receiving... 5 Razz berries as a reward. Well, at least you got a shiny Ponyta, right?
