Pokemon Legends: Arceus shows how life was in ancient times, where the Sinnoh region was known as Hisui instead. In this vast place with many biomes to visit and challenges to face, you will see classic Pokemon that you can catch as you did in prior games. However, some of these creatures will present several differences that can either change their typing or introduce entirely new evolutionary steps.

A returning Pokemon from the Unova region is the angry fish Basculin. This Basculin will be a bit different from the ones we already know, and instead of having red or blue stripes it will sport white ones and will change its colors as it evolves into the newly introduced Basculegion, a giant Water/Ghost-type Pokemon that will look very different depending on its gender.

Updated April 8, 2023 by Jacqueline Zalace: We've updated this guide with a bit more information on obtaining a Basculegion. Now, you can get your own giant fish with ease.

How To Get Basculegion

Pokemon Basculegion Legends: Arceus

While you can ride a Basculegion to surf in water bodies, you won't be able to use one in battles unless you catch its basic form first. After having obtained your Basculin, all that remains is to evolve it to its next evolutionary step.

To successfully do this you must unlock the new attack move Wave Crash, level up until it masters it, and use it in battle until you inflict yourself a total of 294 damage in recoil without fainting.

This recoil damage doesn't have to be applied at the same time; you can battle several times and take recoil damage each time. Once the total adds up to 294, this will trigger evolution.

If you proceed correctly after you finish with this process you will unlock the ability to evolve Basculin into its evolution form, Basculegion, a Water/Ghost pokemon that will have a different aspect and color depending on if it's a female or male one, and will gain access to moves like Shadow Ball, or Hex.
