Be it Gen VIII newcomers or Gen I veterans, there are certainly still a few little-known things about this fascinating Pokemon. So, here are 10 facts about Lucario that you might not know.

10 Bone Rush

There are only 4 Pokemon that can learn the move Bone Rush, Cubone, Marowak, Lucario, and Mandibuzz. This Ground-type move consists of the user attacking its foe by striking them with a bone.

Lucario is the only one of these Pokemon to not have a bone. Both Cubone and Marowak are holding a bow and Mandibuzz wears a bone in its hair. However, Lucario can still use this move but how? Well, it can actually create a bone out of energy in order to strike its opponents.

9 Heal Pulse

Lucario is the only non-Psychic Dual-type Pokémon to learn Heal Pulse. The majority of Pokemon that learn Heal Pulse are Psychic-type, Water-type, or have other healing-related moves in their available moveset.

This is a move that looks somewhat out of place for Lucario, seeing as it is a Pokemon mostly used for attacking opponents.

However, it does make sense given the fact Lucario is known for having such strong telepathic capabilities and is so linked with Aura. Perhaps because Aura is described as the essence of every living creatures, allowing Lucario to manipulate it and heal the target.

8 Riolu Is A Baby Pokemon

Baby Pokemon, for example, can't breed because they're part of the Undiscovered Egg Group. The Undiscovered Egg Group, also known as the No Eggs Discovered Group, is the Egg Group that Legendary, Ultra Beasts, and Mythical Pokemon belong to.

These Pokemon also tend to evolve only once they achieve maximum bonding level with their trainers.

7 Speaks The Human Language

There are several Pokemon that can speak the human language. Although in the world of Pokemon it is not a specific language, it is referred to as "human language", a common language in the world of Pokemon. However, in more recent games there are also certain NPCs that speak foreign languages.

In Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, it becomes clear that Lucario can actually speak and understand the human language. They can actually communicate with humans through Telepathy, due to their strong connections with Aura and how well they comprehend it.

Lucario, also know as the Aura Pokemon, can read and manipulate aura. But what exactly is aura? Aura is a type of spiritual energy, it is the essence of every living creature.

This means that Lucario is capable of reading minds, understanding its surroundings even when it is unable to see, and telepathy.

Unfortunately, Lucario's ability also has its downsides, including making the poor fella feel stressed. According to its Ultra Moon Pokedex entry, "Lucario reads its opponent's feelings with its Aura waves. It finds out things it would rather not know, so it gets stressed out easily."

2 Difficult To Name

Back in 2009, in an interview with GamePro, a videogame magazine, Junichi Masuda, the director of the Diamond and Pearl Pokemon games, admitted that it was hard to come up with a name for Lucario.

The developers wanted the Pokemon's name to grab the attention of both the Japanese and the American audiences. Fans have tried to wrap their heads around its peculiar name and here are several theories about it, however, none of them have ever been confirmed. Perhaps one day there will be an explanation regarding the name's origin.

1 Aura Capabilities

Lucario can read Aura. As the essence of everything living, being able to read Aura gives Lucario quite a few telepathic capabilities.

The episode 'Caring for a mystery! of Pokemon Journeys: The Series' reveals that even Riolu, the Pokemon that evolves into Lucario, can sense Aura before even hatching from an egg.

This is most likely the reason why Lucario is one of the few non-Psychic-type Pokemon to learn Heal Pulse a nearly Psychic-type exclusive move. Perhaps its Aura-related capabilities make it possible to perform some Psychic moves.
