Tech Sync Pairs offer the widest variety of uses of any Sync Pair type in Pokemon Masters EX. From pure damage dealers to debuffers to Zone and Weather Setters, there is no limit to the breadth of abilities Techs are capable of wielding. Techs can excel in a niche, or offer a balanced array of skills to aid several team compositions.

While there is not a single metric by which to judge Techs, it's important to recognize that Techs should accomplish multiple goals. These include providing both support and disruption, damage and debuffing. The most proficient Techs are masters of multiple roles, offering excellent boons to a range of teams, while also shining as the driving force behind their teammate’s success.

10 SC Ingo & Accelegor, A Bug Above The Rest

Ingo & Accelegor from Pokemon Masters EX pose seriously on their debut banner.

The first Bug Zone user and one of the strongest Bugs in Pokemon, Accelegor offers team Speed, Accuracy and Evasion buffs, Defense debuffing, and top-tier damage. Ingo's Sync Nuke is unrivaled, placing it at or near the top of the super-effective damage and off-type damage Sync Move charts.

While Ingo will need Attack buffs to reach his potential, the rest of his kit is well-suited to triggering his damage modifiers via grid. Ingo notably offers Evasiveness, which is one of the rarest buffs in the game. However, not many Strikers who need Evasion will benefit from Bug Zone, limiting Ingo's best partners to a small handful of units.

9 Anniversary N & Reshiram, AoE Debuffs With Immense Damage

N & Reshiram from Pokemon Masters EX Pose triumphantly.

N & Reshiram offer AoE Attack and Special Attack debuffing via Noble Roar due to N's Extend Range Passive, making his attacks hit all enemies without sacrificing potency, as it negates split-damage. In addition, his Piercing Blows passive further bolsters his attacks, ignoring all passives that would reduce damage or protect opponents from fainting.

N also reduces the Special Defense of his targets, softening them up before striking with his superb Sync Move. Unlike Ingo, N is entirely self-sufficient as he can trigger all of his damage modifiers, and fully buffs his own Special Attack and Criticial Hit Rate with his Trainer Move and Dire Hit+.

8 SC Diantha & Keldeo, The Stat-Sapping Unicorn

Keldeo bouncing high in the sky from the Pokemon anime

Keldeo's passive skills alone combine to give it unbelievable stat-sapping utility, as its Armor, Mind, and Speed Leech 9 lower an opponent's Defense, Special Defense, and Speed by one rank and increases its own stats by one. Such impressive utility is reason enough to slot this unit into almost any team, but Keldeo offers way more than your average Tech pair.

High stats, a self-buffing Trainer Move, and Move Gauge Boost make Keldeo a true jack-of-all trades. When fully gridded, this rainbow-colored unicorn boasts fearsome regular and Sync Move damage that rivals even the best Strikers. Its excellent kit and added flinch utility via grid puts Keldeo a shade above fellow debuffing powerhouse, Reshiram.

7 Lear & Hoopa, Preeminent Power From Pasio's Prince

Lear from Pokemon Masters EX poses on his debut banner.

Pasio's crowned Prince, Lear canonically uses Hoopa to teleport all the Pokemon and Trainers onto the game's island of Pasio. However, Hoopa does more than just magic tricks, commanding one of the best Sync Moves in the game due to its Rising Tide passive — increasing his Sync damage the more his stats are raised.

Luckily, Hoopa can also buff its own Special Attack (which maxes out at 528) and Critical Hit Rate, in addition to coming equipped with Snatch. This steals all stat buffs from your opponent and gives them to Hoopa, ensuring you trigger Rising Tide even without a Support. Hoopa's raw power exceeds that of Keldeo, and its ability to accelerate the sync countdown by one puts it a cut above the rest.

6 Lucas & Dialga, A Dominant Dragon Zone Setter

Lucas & Dialga from Pokemon Masters EX pose with smiles in front of ancient ruins.

The Lord of Time lives up to its reputation, leading the way for Dragon-type damage dealers. Gifted with top-tier damage like Hoopa and a far more versatile Zone than Ingo, Dialga excels as a main damage dealer, while also enabling dual-Striker team compositions with self-sufficient buffs, including Speed.

Dialga's grid further expands its utility, giving it access to Special Defense debuffing and tiles to guarantee consistent super-effective damage buffs and additional gauge help. Capable of functioning on its own or as part of a Dragon-based core, Dialga offers slightly more versatility than Hoopa, which lacks its own Zone-setting capabilities and Speed buffs.

5 SSR Cynthia & Altered Form Giratina, Superior Damage From The Shadows

Cynthia & Giratina from Pokemon Masters EX Pose in shadows.

Well-deserving of their Master Pair status, Cynthia and Giratina join forces to form one of the most fearsome Sinnoh Sync Pairs. In addition to their Sinnoh Flag Bearer Master Passive, Giratina's Sundering 9 will lower their target's Defense, Special Defense — or both — each time she attacks. Her Super Shadow and Invigorating Shadow 2 passives combine to charge your Move Gauge by two, and increase your next super-effective attack's damage every time Giratina uses Shadow Sneak.

To supplement her high damage, Giratina's kit includes Ghost Zone, in addition to team Attack and Special Attack buffs available via grid. Cynthia's wonderful combination of debuffing, team buffs, Zone-setting and superior damage place her above her fellow Sinnoh Pokemon, Dialga.

4 SS Cyrus & Darkrai, Send Them To The Void

Cyrus & Darkrai from Pokemon Masters EX pose menacingly.

Darkrai lives up to its Nightmarish reputation with its signature move, Dark Void, to go alongside Dark-Zone. Despite only sporting the low-tier damage of Dark Pulse, Darkrai excels as a disruptive unit, putting all opponents to sleep with Dark Void, and simultaneously debuffing one of each opponents' stats at random via Bad Break. Dark Void also deals useful chip damage due to Cyrus' unique passive, Shared Nightmare.

When fully gridded, Cyrus is capable of dealing fantastic damage, but its best usage comes from Dark Void. Cyrus can keep all targets asleep for virtually the entire battle using his AoE Dark Void. While Cynthia and Lucas may exceed Cyrus in raw power, it's impossible to quantify the utility of easily dispatching opponents as they snooze, forever trapped in Darkrai's nightmare.

3 Palentine Marnie & Mega Mawile, Debuff And Conquer

Marnie & Mawile from Pokemon Masters EX pose on their debut banner.

Despite their sweet Valentine's-themed appearance, this duo's frightening debuffs and ferocious power are nothing short of monstrous. Mawile boasts excellent utility via Steel Zone and Iron Head, which offers a high chance to flinch via Aggravation in her grid. However, Mawile's best attribute is her Mega Evolution, which triggers her passives Terrify 2 and Enfeeble 2 — debuffing all opponent's Attack and Defense by two ranks — for a second time, giving a total debuff of four ranks each.

Mawile's role compression is bolstered by her Team Sharp Entry passive, which raises the team's Critical Hit Rate by one. Marnie also sits in the top tier for Sync Damage, capable of easily hitting the game's 99,999 damage cap — making it even more dangerous than the mighty Darkrai.

2 Anniversary Raihan & Flygon, Let The Weather War Begin

Raihan & Flygon from Pokemon Masters EX pose on their debut banner.

One of Pokemon Shield's strongest Gym Leaders returns with a powerhouse in Flygon. Raihan is capable of setting both Sun and Sandstorm, making him the first dual-Weather-setter. Raihan rounds out his excellent kit with Twister, which offers AoE flinch chances, and his Trainer Move, which increases super-effective damage, raises Special Attack by four and Critical Hit Rate by two.

Flygon's passive, Weather Buff, increases all of Flygon's stats by 30 percent while Weather is in effect, and Team Strengthening Status increases the power of the team's moves each time he sets Weather. Flygon's grid complements his utility with both on and off-type damage that ranks him near the top of each category, making him an exceptionally well-rounded unit.

1 Anniversary Skyla & Tornadus, Role Compression Royalty

Skyla & Tornadus from Pokemon Masters EX pose on their debut banner.

When it comes to compressing Striker, Tech, and Support into one, not even the mighty Raihan can outshine Skyla. This Flying-Zone setter touts damage that surpasses Raihan's, and competes with that of Ingo. Skyla's kit offers Mini Potion All, AoE Confusion, and Flinch chances via passives, as well as team Speed buffs, and her own Special Attack and Critical buffs via Trainer Move.

Skyla's grid also adds Attack and Special Attack debuffs through the Disarm tile, giving her even more utility to disrupt opponents as she builds toward her overwhelming Sync Move. Her flexible grid enables Skyla to be built for damage, disruption, or defense, putting her squarely above her peers in the race for Tech supremacy.
