Pokemon Masters EX's Legendary Gauntlet pits players against a series of three Legendary Pokemon, challenging you to defeat your opponents with entirely unique teams each time, locking you out of previously used options.

To earn the best rewards, you will have to win against the three designated Legendary Arenas as many times as possible. At a minimum, this will require you to defeat each Legendary Boss Pokemon four times for a total streak of 12 to earn the last unique rewards. While this may seem daunting, following a few key strategies will have you racking up wins in no time, provided you have enough units powered up to face the challenge. Get your best Sync Pairs ready, and prepare for Pokemon Masters' premier endgame content.

9 Scout Your Opponent's Weakness

The most important first step for a successful Legendary Gauntlet run starts with identifying the particular vulnerabilities of the formidable Legendary Pokemon you will be facing. Each Legendary Arena will require your team to focus on a particular form of disruption or debuffing in order to inflict damage to the Legendary Pokemon.

Some foes, like Cobalion, will need to have a status condition inflicted to negate its Healthy Advantage 8 passive skill, which greatly reduces incoming damage. Other enemies, like Latios, will need to be debuffed, as the more buffs Latios accumulates, the higher its total damage resistance will be. Identify the abilities your teams should prioritize for each battle, and you'll be able to narrow down your pool of effective units.

8 Team Build Ahead Of Time

Once you have pinpointed your enemy's weakness, you will need to build multiple teams to adequately counter their gimmick as well as match the Legendary's specific type weakness to ensure your damage will be as high as possible. Also, double-check your pool of units to make sure none of them are weak to your opponents' attacks.

Depending on your team composition and overall roster strength, you may be able to win a battle without needing the help of your best units. You will need to separate your strongest units so that you have just enough synergy and strength to win a battle, but without wasting multiple powerful units who could help to secure another victory on a separate team.

7 Select Optimal Type Gear

In difficult battles, every advantage can make a difference - which is why Type Gear is essential to bolstering your stats enough to secure victory for teams bordering on the cusp of success. Each type has associated Bracelets (which raise Attack and Defense), Bandanas (which raise Special Attack and Special Defense), and Pins (which raise HP and Speed).

Gear strength ranges from one star to three stars, although not all types have access to the strongest tier yet. Be sure to power up your available Gear to its maximum level, if you have not already, and select based on your Sync Pairs' types to give you the edge needed to prevail.

6 Do A Practice Run

Teambuilding and preparation can only be validated by actually giving them a practical test. Give your best team a shot to gauge how and when your opponent will attack. Some arenas also have a set move order that you can memorize to guarantee you always have the best answer to their attacks.

Analyze which units are helping and which may be dragging your teams down during your battle. It will be necessary to tinker with your selections based on your results, as certain abilities may look helpful on paper but not be in practice. Even if you succeed, a practice run will offer you a chance to see where your other teams may fail and allow you to adjust your compositions accordingly.

5 Use The Slowest Setting Without Auto-Battle

While most content can be breezed through without a second thought, Legendary Gauntlet is not going to be one of those times for most players. If you currently use the Auto-Battle function: turn it off and keep it that way during your Gauntlet runs. Although the enemy AI seems excellent at choosing the perfect time to use their most powerful move on your weakened Support, it will not be nearly as clinical in dispatching Legendary Gauntlet bosses for you.

Taking battles slowly allows you to watch the move queue and properly time your attacks so that you can sometimes get four moves off for each one that your opponent uses. This quad-queue strategy will be very helpful against tougher foes such as these, so keep your eyes peeled and your thumb ready to select your next move.

4 Chain Disruption And Debuffs

In addition to being necessary for negating Legendary Bosses' damage reduction, inflicting status conditions and debuffing their stats will aid you in executing important strategies. Quad-queuing becomes trivially easy when your opponents lose out on attacking turns while they flinch or are put to sleep repeatedly.

Disruption will be decisive against adversaries like Moltres, who can hamper your team with its AoE Heat Wave and subsequent guaranteed burn. It may be easier for you to simply prevent such an attack from even happening rather than struggling to heal your entire team with a Support as Moltres continues decimating your defenses.

3 Activate Your Sync Multipliers

If shutting down your opponents is rule number one of Legendary Gauntlet, then maximizing your own power is rule number two. While you will need to accommodate certain types of disruption to soften up the enemy, you should also select units that can activate damage multipliers from that disruption or who independently set up their own multiplier conditions.

Some of the most powerful Pokemon, like Anniversary N's Reshiram and SC Diantha's Keldeo, are examples of units that can function entirely on their own, letting other teammates focus on nullifying their targets without having to pivot to another role. Ensuring that you can reach maximum damage quickly will simplify many of your battles, as the difficulty only ramps up as your enemy gains additional Sync Boosts.

2 Use One Team Per Clear

There will be many occasions where one of your teams falls just short of finishing off the boss, and one more team could easily get the job done. However, resetting before defeat and starting a battle over will be much more beneficial than wasting four to six Sync Pairs on a single victory.

While this may feel like a waste of time, some battles are simply more dependent on RNG than others. In the long run, keeping to a strict rule of one-team-per-clear will help keep your teambuilding organized and extend the number of total victories you can achieve with your limited pool of units.

1 Remake Overkill Teams And Restart

The best way to extend your streak is first to test the limits of your roster. Once you have completed a run of Legendary Gauntlet with your first set of teams, be sure to identify the units that are working exceptionally well for you; then, set these units aside and build teams around each of them.

Once you have pinpointed your strongest units, this should give you enough information to build additional teams that can clear the stage and extend your total winning streak. When it comes to Legendary Gauntlet, team synergy greatly outweighs pure strength as it's not about how easily you win but how many times you can achieve victory.
