Pokémon Masters has been released a day early on iOS and Android, but if you're planning on playing it a day early, we may have some bad news,

A few years ago, many of you reading this might have assumed that the Pokémon hype of the 1990s and early 2000s had significantly died down. Honestly, you would have been right to think that too, especially compared to how well the franchise is doing today. Although Pokémon has never completely disappeared, Pokémon GO gave it a resurgence unlike anything we could have ever imagined.

The popularity of Pokémon GO (it has been downloaded more than 1 billion times) means that whenever a new Pokémon game is in the works, people get excited. Even more so when that game is on mobile so we can all get our hands on it. That's why the reveal of a game on iOS and Android called Pokémon Masters got us wishing the days away between the initial announcement and its release.

That release was slated for August 30, 2019, so tomorrow at the time of typing this. However, Pokémon Masters is available to download right now. That's the good news. The bad news is that most of the players who have downloaded it are currently unable to play it due to the sheer number of people trying to access the app at the same time.

CNET reported that the servers are down, and multiple people with the app have been posting screenshots which read "20101 error: Please check your connection and try again." Suffice to say, DeNA likely wasn't expecting its game to be this popular right off the bat. It definitely wouldn't have been expecting this much traffic a day before the game was supposed to be released.

If you are eager to play Pokémon Masters but are constantly being greeted by the above error message, now is the time to familiarize yourself with the game's premise. You are the star of the game and will make up one half of a sync pair along with your Pokémon. You will travel the island of Pasio teaming and battling with other sync pairs, some of which you'll recognize from the Pokémon TV series and previous games. Be patient, the servers will be fixed soon (we hope) and our newest quest to become a Pokémon Master can begin.
