Pokémon Masters had a solid launch despite some issues, as the mobile game managed to pull in $33 million of revenue in just its first month alone. This is a great performance for a free-to-play mobile game and proves that Pokémon is still incredibly popular around the world. Despite the solid success of the newest Pokémon game on mobile, it still dwarfs in comparison to Pokémon GO's unparalleled success at launch a few years ago.

Pokémon Masters' $33 million first month's intake is good enough for the second-highest launch for a Pokémon title geared towards mobile gaming. The first is Pokémon GO with an unimaginable $302 million month launch. The remaining games are Pokémon Quest with $7.6 million, Pokémon Dual, Pokémon Magikarp Jump, and Pokémon Rumble Rush.

The latest Pokémon mobile game never needed to come close to Pokémon GO's astronomical numbers to be considered a success. A $33 million launch for a free-to-play game is still genuinely impressive and shows the broad appeal of the franchise.

Among the biggest contributing countries to the revenue of the game was Japan, leading the rest with an overwhelming 58% spent on the game. The average amount spent per download in Japan was $12.90, which is $10 more than the global average of $2.80 per download. Japan is the birthplace of Pokémon, so irs no wonder it has the biggest enthusiastic consumer base.

Pokémon Masters' first-month was never going to ascend to Pokémon GO levels, but $33 million of revenue during the first month is a success in every way. This figure points to the longevity of the game and its appeal across countries and with the mobile gaming community as a whole. Pokémon is going strong and the mobile success bodes well, not only for its claim in the mobile gaming world, but also for the entire franchise as it continues to grow with the upcoming Sword and Shield.
