If someone has taken the 16 Personalities quiz, they might have discovered that they are an ‘Advocate’. Their first question might be ‘What is that’? Their second question is definitely ‘What Pokémon team best suits me’?

To answer the first question - an ‘Advocate’, otherwise known as an INFJ, is a person with the Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging personality traits. These people usually approach life through a creative lens, with their inner vision, personal values, and quiet, principled version of humanism guiding them throughout their life. It’s one of the rarest personality types, making up less than one percent of the population, but they will always leave their mark on the world. To answer the second question, read on.

6 Smeargle

An INFJ is someone who approaches all aspects of life with a deep thoughtfulness and vivid imagination. This creative streak is perfectly encapsulated by Smeargle, the Sketch Artist Pokémon. An INFJ’s sense of compassion is best utilised when fighting for a cause - INFJ’s are strong believers in destroying inequality and fighting for what they believe is right. Art has been a vehicle for change since the beginning of time, so Smeargle will complement INFJ Trainer’s strong sense of justice.

However, like every creative, INFJ’s are perfectionists, which can lead to them burning out. INFJ personalities are all but defined by their pursuit of ideals. Whilst this can be admirable, INFJ’s frequently ignore healthy and productive situations to hold out for a better solution in the future. Sharing the Pokémon world with Smeargle by their side will also help INFJ’s to remember to look after themselves whilst they’re busy sorting out the world, otherwise, they can be prone to burn out.

5 Chansey

People with the INFJ personality type see helping others as their purpose in life. If they can do something to fight against inequality, chances are they’re already doing it. From protesting in the streets to engaging in rescue efforts and doing charity work, this strong sense of moral duty is essential. Their ultimate goal is to get to the heart of the issue so that people need not be rescued at all.

This altruistic streak is best summed up by the Egg Pokémon, Chansey. This kindhearted Pokémon will share its delicious eggs with injured people and Pokémon and can often be seen in the anime to be helping Nurse Joy at Pokémon Centers. INFJ’s will only take action and stand up for what they believe in if they truly think their actions will truly make the world a better place, which is summed up by this amicable Pokémon

4 Kubfu

This Legendary Pokémon, first introduced in the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass, is known for being extremely shy. Whilst INFJ’s project a determined facade, they are actually extremely private people who find it hard to truly open up, even to close friends. Much like Kubfu, a Trainer will have to work hard to learn this Pokémon’s heart. This is in part due to their sensitive personality - insulting or harshly critiquing their beliefs or morals is crushing for an INFJ, or indeed Kubfu, to hear.

Despite this soft-spoken tone, they have very strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea they believe in. Kubfu is tireless in its training, even if it suffers defeat, just like INFJ’s. It can create "fighting energy", which will be perfect for cheering on INFJ Trainers in the fight for equality.

3 Sobble

Sobble is the Water-type starter Pokémon from Sword and Shield and instantly won over Trainers around the world for its timid nature and teary eyes. It immediately burst into tears when provoked, which is a common sight for INFJ’s. Having a Sobble on an INFJ Trainers team will hopefully balance the two out - Sobble will learn how to stand their ground, and the INFJ will learn how to show emotions to those closest to them.

An INFJ’s fear of vulnerability isn’t to be mistaken for a lack of passion though. Their convictions are strong enough to carry them past their breaking point, which is why the tearful Sobble is perfect for this Trainer's team. If an INFJ finds themself burning out, they can easily become exhausted, unhealthy, and stressed. Due to their passion, idealism, and need for privacy tend, INFJ’s have very few healthy outlets to decompress. If they think they can’t lean on the shoulders of good friends like Sobble can with Grookey and Scorbunny they are likely to exhaust themselves very quickly.

2 Lucario

Lucario is a Fighting/Steel Pokémon that has the ability to read auras. This special sense perfectly matches with an INFJ’s inborn sense of idealism and morality. Lucario is able to manipulate this energy, as can an INFJ’s talent for using warm and sensitive language, appealing to large crowds and those with alternative viewpoints through speaking in human terms, rather than with pure logic and fact. Lucario is the perfect partner for this personality type because it can understand human speech and communicate with humans through telepathy. This synergy is great for INFJs - if Lucario can sense they are getting too caught up in the pursuit for their ideal vision and calm them down if needed.

1 Mew

Mew is the birth parent of Mewtwo before it was stolen away and experimented on by evil scientists on Cinnabar Island.

In the English version of the movie Mewtwo Strikes Back, Mew is symbolic of innocence and joy, contrasting with Mewtwo's contemptuous and violent nature developed from human interference in gene splicing. Mew is a great sixth Pokémon to have on an INFJ team because a person with this personality type will often act with creativity, conviction, and sensitivity to create balance in the universe. This is the lesson that Mew teaches Mewtwo at the end of Mewtwo Strikes Back. Egalitarianism and altruism are essential components of an INFJ, who tend to believe that the world could easily be a better place if everyone used love and compassion to soften the hearts of tyrants.
