The strongest Pokemon is usually a title decided by base stat totals, putting the usual suspects at the top: Mewtwo, Rayquaza, and other Legendaries. But, if one takes a deep dive into the strange, fascinating world of Pokedex entries, they might find some entries that point to some strong Pokemon that are terrifyingly powerful, despite not always having the stats to match.

The Pokedex entries for most Pokemon seem like exaggerations, probably because they're meant to showcase how powerful these creatures are. Some of them are so out there that they aren't even scientifically possible. But, they're canon, even though they're hilariously-ridiculous. While Mega Mewtwo might be a strong Pokemon in terms of stats, here are some Pokemon that might give it some competition in terms of strength in other contexts.

10 Hariyama

This Fighting-type from Generation III is meant to resemble a sumo wrestler, so it's no surprise that it's bulky and hits hard. However, the Pokedex shows that its brute strength and ability to plant itself down are truly off the charts. According to the 'dex, Hariyama "has the power to stop a train with a slap."

This is terrifying. It doesn't just say it can push a train, which would already be impressive — it can slap so hard it stops a moving train.

9 Heliolisk

Heliolisk is a lizard-like Pokemon from Generation VI that has a strange solar panel that it can fold out to absorb the sun and energize itself. Storing this electrical power makes it insanely powerful in a couple of ways.

First, the energy it uses can allow it to run 100 yards (300 feet or 91.44 meters) in five seconds. That's the length of a football field — a length that world-record holder Asafa Powell ran in just over nine seconds. However, the 'dex says that a single Heliolisk generates enough energy to power an entire skyscraper by itself.

8 Kingler

Some crabs in real life have lopsided claws, with one being much larger than the other. This serves as a bit of a hindrance, contrary to the belief that it is meant for self-defense. It's just too heavy to move, and is believed by scientists to be an evolutionary trait meant for sexual selection.

Kingler, a Pokemon that is basically just a crab, also has this trait, where it serves as a hindrance as well. The Pokedex states that its large size makes it more of a burden than anything. However, Kingler is able to use it to crush with a force of "10,000 horsepower." Yikes.

7 Braviary

Many people who own cars know that it's unwise to park under some trees, because, by the afternoon, that thing will be covered in bird droppings. The concern that birds can harm your car is present in the Pokemon world too, but in a much more extreme way.

According to several Pokedex entries, Braviary is capable of carrying an entire car. Sure, droppings all over the roof are annoying, but it's even worse if the car itself becomes the thing being dropped.

6 Meowstic

Meowstic looks like it's just a harmless little cat Pokemon, especially male Meowstic, who just looks playful compared to the more menacing female Meowstic and her deadly glare. However, you can't underestimate these strange psychic felines.

It keeps its ears folded over to protect the eye-like pattern on the inside — which is where their psychic power comes from — because the power is "too immense." When threatened, Meowstic is capable of releasing "enough psychic power to grind a 10-ton truck to dust," according to the Pokedex.

5 Raichu

Returning to the colossal power of Electric-type Pokemon like Heliolisk brings us to Raichu, which is apparently a terrifying monster that shouldn't be allowed in public.

According to the Pokedex, Raichu's electrical charges can reach 100,000 volts. "Careless contact," as the 'dex says, can cause an Indian elephant to faint. It also "turns aggressive" if it builds up too much electricity. But, don't worry, they're probably safe walking around in large population centers.

4 Magcargo

Fire Pokemon existing at all is terrifying, regardless of how strong they are. Any type of creature that can just produce fire at will would be a mortal threat to human life. However, in the Pokemon world, they just roam freely.

One of the scariest is Magcargo, the Fire/Rock-type from Generation II. The Pokedex states that its body measures 18,000 degrees Farenheit (10,000 degrees Celsius). That's significantly hotter than the surface of the sun. Just being within the area of it would vaporize you.

3 Tyranitar

Tyranitar is modeled after Godzilla, so it's only fitting that it's large, powerful, and terrifying. However, its strength is truly astounding. Even before evolving, its pre-evolutions are said to be incredibly powerful, with Larvitar evolving by consuming an entire mountain.

However, Tyranitar is insane. According to the Pokedex, it's so strong that it "knocks down mountains and buries rivers," and is so strong it can "change the landscape." Some entries also state that maps have to be redrawn after Tyranitar is finished crumbling the landscape and rearranging the terrain.

2 Regigigas

In a similar vein to Tyranitar is Generation IV's resident Legendary titan, Regigigas. This incredibly-strong Pokemon has fantastic physical stats, and it's clear why. According to the Pokedex, legend has it that Regigigas moved continents around with ropes.

It's also credited with shaping the other Regis, Regice, Regirock, and Registeel, out of ice, rocks, and magma. So, this thing is basically a god, moving the world around and making new life? Seems that way.

1 Gardevoir

While Tyranitar and Regigias are busy moving the topography of the earth around, Gardevoir is creating rifts in the space-time continuum, it seems. So far, everything on this list has had some type of immense power to affect the environment around it, but Gardevoir is capable of so much more.

According to the Pokedex, Gardevoir is capable of creating black holes to protect its trainer. Ignoring the physical effects of what that would do the planet and the surrounding area of space, how would that protect the trainer? They'd probably be the closest to the Pokemon and get sucked into the event horizon the fastest. Thanks anyway, Gardevoir.
