The Pokemon anime tie-in game Pokemon Puzzle League is coming to Nintendo Switch Online. Expansion Pack subscribers will be able to play the Nintendo 64 classic at no extra cost starting next Friday, marking the second re-release of this puzzle-based Pokemon spin-off. Fans seem pleased with this latest Nintendo Switch Online pick, feeling nostalgic for the puzzle game and its hommage to the early days of the Pokemon anime. It will be available to play from July 15 onwards, and joins other classics such as the original Pokemon Snap, Kirby 64, and Mario Golf.Pokemon Puzzle League was initially released in 2000, exclusively for the Nintendo 64. After that, its only re-release was in 2008, when it came to the Wii Virtual Console. With it no longer possible to purchase games through that storefront, this Switch release is now the only way to legitimately play Puzzle League.
Puzzle League seemingly won't be available to all players, as it has not been confirmed in Japan. This is because Puzzle League was only ever released in English back in the Nintendo 64 days, and seemingly hasn't been localized since. Players in Japan will be getting the Custom Robo games instead, although you can still grab them yourself by creating a Japanese Nintendo account on your Switch.
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will set you back $49.99 / €39,99 / £34.99 a year if you haven't made the upgrade already. This will grant you access to a whole host of re-released classics, ranging from Nintendo 64 titles, to NES and Sega Genesis hits. It also lets you play certain DLC packs, such as the new courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion.
