Pokemon fans are already comparing new water starter Quaxly to Donald Duck.

The Pokemon Company held its first Pokemon Presents of the year earlier today, revealing a new update for Pokemon Unite, Alolan Pokemon coming to Pokemon Go, and even a new anime series that takes place in the Hisui region. By far the most exciting bit of news was the introduction of a new generation of Pokemon with Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, which are planned for release later this year.

Although most of the trailer was showcasing some of the environments you can expect to explore in the game, the final shot of the trailer gave us our first look at this generation's new starters - Quaxly, Spirigatito, and Fuecoco. All three starters have already took the internet by storm, but one of them in particular has been drawing eyes for their resemblance to a certain Disney duck.

As soon as the three starters were revealed, Pokemon fans jumped to social media to start making the obvious comparison - Quaxly looks like Donald Duck. From his white feathers to what looks like a blue hat on top of his head, the comparison works surprisingly well. It may seem a little obvious considering they're both just duck creatures, but the hat is really what sells it.

This has, of course, led to memes between the two just a few hours after the debut of the Pokemon Presents. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's starters are now being compared to Sora, Donald, and Goofy from Kingdom Hearts, with Goofy taking up Spirigatito's role and Sora being represented by Fuecoco.

Other memes have Donald trying to bully his way into Pokemon after seeing Sora get into Smash by erasing anything to do with Disney. Others are simply putting Donald's clothes on top of Quaxly, making the comparison between them even more uncanny.

Although it's almost definitely an accidental similarity between the two on the behalf of The Pokemon Company, it's arguably only going to do favours for Quaxly's popularity in the long run.
