Since the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the battle stadium has been overflowing with possibilities. Terastallization has brought new potential to Pokemon who previously wouldn't even dip their toes in the competitive meta. With powerful Fire and Ground-Types like Armarouge and Garchomp running rampant, the Water Tera crown has become a refreshing choice for both new and veteran players.

As one of the most defensive types in the game, a Water-Type Terastallization can be just as critical to survival as - well, actual water. There are waves upon waves of Pokemon who benefit from this fountain fez, but a chosen few float to the top with a Water-Type Terastallization.

10 Tsareena

Tsareena is the Queen of mean with both offensive and defensive viability. Its unique ability, Queenly Majesty, prevents opposing Pokemon from using priority moves, making it an incredible pivot against threats like Kingambit, Dragonite, and Scizor.

By Terastallizing into a Water-Type, Tsareena reverses its previous weakness and slays even longer. The Water Tera Crown can be a refreshing way to keep priority users at bay for even longer, allowing Tsareena to walk all over its opponents with powerful counterattacks.

9 Lucario

One of Gen 4's most adored Pokemon has even more to love with Terastallization. Lucario has solid stat distribution and movepool, but its base 70 HP leaves a lot to be desired, as a single super-effective hit can easily knock it out if it's not wearing a Focus Sash.

With the Water Tera Crown, this chrome canine resists its previous threats, allowing it to stay in the fight longer. With its base Special Attack of 115 and access to Rain Dance, this wet wolf becomes a powerful Water Type sweeper - that leaves its opponents feeling rusty.

8 Baxcalibur

One of the most powerful Paldean Pokemon, and a fantastic pick for the tidal tiara, is the compact kaiju Baxcalibur. Like the creature who inspired its design, Baxcalibur works best when wet.

By Terastallizing into a Water-Type, it nullifies its Dragon, Ice, Steel, and Fighting-Type weaknesses. Baxcalibur also has access to Aqua Tail, so it has more than just Tera Blast at its disposal in order to utilize its new typing.

7 Amoonguss

While it may be shocking to some, Amoonguss has grown to be an incredible threat in the competitive meta. With a movepool that includes Spore, Rage Powder, Clear Smog, Pollen Puff, and more, this faux fungus is one of the best support options available.

Amoongus wants to stay on the field as long as possible, but as a Grass and Poison Type, it faces a number of threats, particularly from Psychic and Fire-Types. As a Water-Type, Amoonguss loses its Psychic weakness and gains resistance to Fire-Types. The added moisture allows this mischievous mushroom to grow into an even bigger problem for its opponents.

6 Frosmoth

As stylish as Frosmoth is, it's not too trendy on the competitive ladder. Its Ice/Bug Typing is a huge hindrance, which is a shame since it is an incredibly strong special attacker with a fantastic movepool.

With a Water-Type Terastallization, Frosmoth can offensively utilize its base 125 Special Attack without worrying about its 4x weaknesses to Rock and Fire-Type moves. It's a prime example of how Terastallization can completely change a Pokemon's viability. With the Water Tera Crown, Frosmoth can wash away the bad taste left by its sub-par Gen 8 performance.

5 Toedscruel

Sometimes you need to go back to your roots, and Toedscruel is a perfect example of that. This terrifying toadstool loves to spout Water-Type Terastallization just like its Kantonian cousin, for many of the same reasons as Amoonguss. Like the other funky fungus, Toedscruel has an incredibly supportive movepool, made even stronger by its unique ability Mycelium Might, which allows it to land status moves even if its target's ability prevents them.

As a Grass/Ground Type, this sinister shroom is 4x weak to Ice-Type attacks but resists them as a Water-Type. Since it threatens Electric Types and resists Grass before it Terastallize, a Water Tera Type can create an entirely new wave of problems for any opponent.

4 Barraskewda

Ever since it was introduced in Gen 8, Barraskewda has been one of the best sweepers in the game. This fish missile is the fastest non-legendary Pokemon in the rain, thanks to its Swift Swim ability, and hits incredibly hard with a base 123 attack stat.

The increased attack power from a Water-Type Terastallization, combined with the rain boost, turbocharges this torpedo into an exponentially more powerful threat. You don’t want to fight this fish when it’s fit with the Water Tera Crown.

3 Cetitan

Pokemon Scarlet Violet: Cetitan's Pokedex entry

Generation 9 traded hail for snow as the new optional weather condition for Ice-Type Pokemon, giving them a 50 percent defense boost whenever the flakes fall, making Cetitan a stone-cold killer in the competitive ladder. Despite being a literal walking whale, this frosty friend still prefers the water when it comes to Terastallization.

This land leviathan has an incredible base HP stat of 170 and makes incredible use of this naturally defensive typing. With the Water Tera Crown, Cetitan can safely execute a Belly Drum without having to worry about Rock, Steel, or Fire-Types ruining the fun. The glistening geyser garland is visually fitting for the bipedal beluga.

2 Palafin

Palafin can be a hero on any team. While Its Zero Form may seem cute and harmless, when switched back in, this dynamic dolphin hits as hard as Slaking without being hindered by its ability.

Adding a Water Tera Crown to its super suit allows this powerhouse porpoise to hit even harder with its signature priority move, Jet Punch. Its comically high damage output can be increased even further in the Rain, making this fearsome flipper a major threat in the battle stadium.

1 Abomasnow

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ensured that Christmas comes year-round for Abomasnow with the many ways it was reworked in Gen 9. As the primary snow setter, its ability makes it even bulkier than before, forcing opponents to take advantage of its 4x Fire weakness in response.

This has always been its Achilles' heel ever since its Gen 4 debut, but with Terastallization, this tree lights up with new opportunities. This abominable Christmas tree flips its 4x weakness into resistance at the drop of a hat and allows it to counter Fire and Rock Types that threaten its Ice-Type allies.

Since setting up snow provides a 50 percent Defense increase to other Ice-Types, countering these super-effective threats is vital and necessary to any snow team's success. If you keep this tree watered, it's sure to show you why it's the best fit for the Water Tera crown.
