Paldean Tauros is an exclusive regional form in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet with three separate variations. Finding them all can be tricky and time-consuming, especially when trying to find them for the first time. Paldean Tauros is available in each game as a pure Fighting type or one of two Fighting hybrids: Blaze Breed (Fire and Fighting in Pokemon Scarlet) and Aqua Breed (Water and Fighting in Pokemon Violet).

Tauros are available in two distinct locations in the Paldean wilds with a few tricky nuances. Finding a regular Paldean Tauros is fairly straightforward, and you'll likely encounter one along your journey. However, finding the hybrids is where things get a little more difficult.

Updated September 19, 2023 by Alexis Campbell: This guide has been slightly altered to fit in line with the release of Scarlet and Violet's DLC. Hatching a Tauros on Kitakami will result in a Kantonian Tauros rather than a Paldean breed.

Where To Find Paldean Tauros

If you've only caught a regular Paldean Tauros, or have only seen each breed in battle, then your Pokedex can give you a false lead from the start of your search.

The spawn location for Blaze and Aqua Breed Tauros is not the same as regular Paldean Tauros, which is commonly found in these areas:

• East Province (Area One)
• East Province (Area Two)
• Zapapico
• East Province (Area Three)
• West Province (Area Two)

Only after catching a Blaze or Aqua Breed Tauros will your Pokedex update the map and reveal a more accurate spawn location for this type:

• East Province (Area Two)
• West Province (Area Two)

The easiest way to find these Pokemon is to travel to Port Marinada and search the West Province (Area Two) just next to the Pokemon Center.

How To Find Blaze And Aqua Breed Paldean Tauros

Paldean Tauros herds have a typical spawn rate of forty percent in their respective areas, making them fairly easy to locate. They usually spawn in groups of five and are highly aggressive at the sight of trainers. Upon seeing you, they will begin to charge at you. This can sometimes make it difficult to single out a Tauros when you find the one you want.

If you are hunting for Blaze/Aqua Breed Paldean Tauros in the West Province (Area Two), beware of Paldean Tauros traveling alone. There is a good chance that it is not a Tauros and, in fact, is a Ditto instead.

Blaze Breed Paldean Tauros

If you're in Pokemon Scarlet, you'll be looking for a Paldean Tauros with a long wrapped tail that splits into three at the very end, curved horns, and bright red markings on the mane around its head.

Aqua Breed Tauros

In Pokemon Violet, you're searching for a Paldean Tauros with blue markings on the mane below the head, curled horns, and three tails.

If you find yourself overwhelmed by the amount of Paldean Tauros in a herd spawn, and require a little extra time to look at the herd, it's recommended to run into one Tauros and fight it. While fighting, use your camera to look around.

Once found, you can engage in battle with the Paldean Tauros and try to catch it. Beware that Paldean Tauros's catch rate is relatively low at a base 45/255. It is recommended to have a good supply of Poke Balls and a Pokemon on hand that can apply either the paralysis or sleep condition.

Since Paldean Tauros is always guaranteed to be male, having a Ditto is a requirement for breeding. When bred, any breed of the original Paldean Tauros will be copied. Therefore, you can breed several more Blaze or Aqua Breed Paldean Tauros without any special items, but breeding a regular Paldean Tauros will never result in a special breed typing.

If you breed Paldean Tauros and hatch its egg on Kitakami with the Scarlet and Violet DLC Expansion Pass, your Tauros will be an original Kantonian Tauros instead.

How To Increase Your Chances Of Finding Paldean Tauros

Blaze and Aqua Breed Paldean Tauros are rare encounters (the standard spawn rate for these special types in the correct locations is twenty percent or less), but eating a sandwich with specific Fire or Water encounter powers is will increase your chance of finding them.

With the power of sandwiches, however, finding these special Tauros (especially near Port Marinada) becomes relatively quick and simple. At present, there is no Level Two Encounter Power for either Fire or Water types, but you can use Level One encounter power for each type to increase your chances.

To save supplies, these sandwiches are recommended.
