In this guide, we are going to take a look at the best ways to farm experience in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This will help you quickly level up your Pokemon, so they can evolve or be used in competitive play. First, let's take a quick look at auto-battling.

Can You Farm Experience By Auto-Battling?

The short answer to this question is yes, by auto-battling, you can gain small amounts of experience. It's important to note that the experience you gain by auto-battling is not as much as if you were to participate in a normal battle. Overall, you will only get a fraction of the experience, making this an inefficient way to farm experience quickly.

Additionally, Pokemon cannot evolve by experience gained via auto-battling. For example, if your Fuecoco becomes level 16 thanks to an auto-battle, it will not evolve. You will either need to use a candy or send it out into battle manually and gain a level.

Tera Raid Battles And EXP Candy

The best way to farm experience in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is to participate in raid battles. These appear all around the region, with their locations marked on the map.

Each time you complete a raid, you will receive a bunch of rewards. The higher difficulty of the raid, the more rewards you will get. Among these rewards is EXP candy, which can be given directly to your Pokemon, causing them to gain experience.

There are five sizes of candy, which you can see below.

S

M

By participating in several Tera Raid battles, you can build up a hefty supply of candy which can be used to quickly gain experience without battling any wild Pokemon or trainers.

Using A Lucky Egg

Area Zero Pokemon Battles

Area Zero is the last area you will discover, consisting of the giant crater within the Paldea region.

In Area Zero, you can find tons of Pokemon, all over level 50. This is a great place to battle if you are looking to gain experience without participating in raid battles. With a Lucky Egg in hand, you can gain even more experience.

Area Zero is a great place to level up low-level Pokemon. Simply place a low-level Pokemon in your party, with stronger Pokemon in the lead.

This allows you to easily defeat wild Pokemon, while still gaining tons of experience for the lower-level Pokemon.

Experience Foods

Lastly, let's take a look at foods that grant experience. While picnicking with your Pokemon, you can make a variety of sandwiches that provide various powers. Some food is labeled as having Exp. Point Power. Essentially, this food will boost the experience you gain in battle.

The power gained is related to specific Pokemon types. For example, the Ultra Decadent Sandwich will grant you Exp. Point Power: Ghost Lv. 2. This means that you will gain more experience for ghost-type Pokemon in your party.
