What Is Herba Mystica?

Herba Mystica is Arven's primary focus in the Path of Legends storyline in the main Pokemon Scarlet & Violet story.
These special plants are guarded by Titan Pokemon, and Arven needs your help collecting them all.
Though you'll be introduced to Herba Mystica during the game's main storyline, you can't collect any yourself until after beating the game.
This includes each of the three primary stories in the main game (Starfall Street, Victory Road, and Path of Legends), and finishing the entirety of Area Zero.
Once you've beaten the game, you'll be able to farm Herba Mystica yourself by defeating five and six-star Raid Pokemon.
Able to get Herba Mystica of your own now, you'll be able to use Herba Mystica in Sandwiches during Picnics for extremely powerful bonuses.
Since these are rarer than normal ingredients, Sandwiches made with Herba Mystica often offer higher level perks than regular versions of that recipe or even special perks inaccessible without them.
They're particularly helpful for encountering specific types of Pokemon during Mass Outbreaks, which can easily include shiny versions if you make the right recipes.
In all, there are five different types of Herba Mystica to get in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Bitter, Salty, Sour, Spicy, and Sweet Herba Mystica.
The best option for hunting Shiny Pokemon is Salty, as it grants the highest boost to Sparkling Power.

Herba Mystica can be obtained as drops from five and six-star raids. There are a number of Pokemon who drop more than one type of Herba Mystica for defeating their Tera Raids as well.
Five-star raids will yield about a ten percent chance of dropping Herba Mystica, while six-star raids yield about a 13 percent chance.

Focus On Five-Star Raids When Playing Alone
Though the six-star raids do offer a bit more of a chance to get Herba Mystica in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, it can help save you some time to pursue five-star raids more often if you're not playing online.
There are several reasons for this - not only are five-star raids more plentiful around the map (since only one six-star raid appears on your map of Paldea each day), but they're also possible to beat on your own with the right Pokemon.
You can save near Tera Crystals in case the battle doesn't go in your favor, but the rewards for each battle will be the same no matter how many times you reset if you win and don't like the loot drop.
When it comes to six-star raids, a loss is almost guaranteed if you rely on random NPC trainers - doing six-star raids online with other people playing the other three trainers allows for far more control over the raid.
This is leagues easier with friends so you can communicate your moves and choreograph a strategy, but enough exposure to online raids helps you recognize which specific Pokemon are best for different raids.
There are often powerful builds that avid Pokemon players assemble for six-star raids or event raids, so bulk up your Pokemon in these ways for an easier victory.
For six-star raids, stat boost moves for your team and stat drain moves for the Tera Pokemon are pivotal to your success, as these six-star Tera Raid Pokemon have some of the highest stats in the game.
Sandwiches And Setting Tweaks: Tricks To Get Herba Mystica
We've already discussed using Herba Mystica as Sandwich ingredients in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but those aren't the only Sandwiches you should worry about - eating Raid Power Sandwiches before raids can help tremendously.
It goes without saying that any Sandwich that boosts Raid Power will help, but the higher the level on the Sandwich, the easier the time you'll have in the upcoming raid.
Be sure the Sandwich recipe that offers a Raid Boost power-up matches the type of Pokemon you're about to challenge in a raid, and always double-check, as Tera Raids can completely change a Pokemon's typing.
And if you've finished doing all the worthwhile raids in your game for the day but aren't quite finished playing, you can always change your Switch's time settings to reset your raids for the day.
It doesn't even have to be a large jump, either - simply moving your Switch's clock back by one minute is enough to find new raids in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
