The latest Pokémon website might have secrets buried in its code that could have revealed new information about the different evolutionary lines of various Pokémon in Pokémon Sword & Shield.
A new Pokémon website has been launched in Japan that works on mobile phones. The website allows the viewer to add Dynamax Pokémon to an existing photograph, which means that a giant Pokémon is being added to the photo.
A Twitter-user named acbboy has discovered information relating to codenames for each of the Pokémon on the Dynamax photography website. According to abcboy, some of the Pokémon have numbers next to their name, suggesting that they are on a different part of their evolutionary chain than fans realize.
Grookey's internal name is Gorilla1, which suggest that it will evolve into a gorilla, as was also stated in the infamous 4chan leak for Pokémon Sword & Shield. Yamper, Rolycoly, and Wooloo's codenames have a number one next to them, which suggests that they will evolve, while Morpeko's name lacks a number, suggesting that it won't evolve.
Corviknight's internal name has a number three next to it, suggesting that it's the final evolution of a three-stage chain, suggesting that the Corviknight line is the generic bird Pokémon that appears in every region. Alcremie's internal codename has a two next to it, suggesting that it will evolve from a different Pokémon.
Polteageist's name also has a number two next to it, suggesting that it will evolve from a different Pokémon. The fan speculation is that it will evolve from a Pokémon in the shape of a teacup, which means that trainers can form a team with a Chandelure and a Slaking to make a Beauty and the Beast-inspired squad to take on the Galar region.
It's still too early to tell whether this information is relevant, but it makes sense for these Pokémon to be part of longer evolutionary chains that haven't been fully revealed to the player. Game Freak seems to want to keep some cards close to its chest in the run-up to the release of the next Pokémon game, rather than spoiling everything beforehand as it did with Pokémon Sun & Moon.
Pokémon Sword & Shield will be released for the Nintendo Switch on November 15, 2019.
