With rare spawns and quick teleports in the overworld, Elgyem can be a very elusive Pokémon to catch in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Consider this Pokémon caught, because with these tips, you'll have your very own Elgyem in no time.

The Galar region is home to many different kinds of Pokémon; new Pokémon, old Pokémon, and old Pokémon with a different variation in appearance. Elgyem is one of the 'old' Pokémon included in the mix, with its first appearance being in Generation 5 (Unova region).

Where To Find Elgyem

Elgyem can be found in the Wild Area of the Galar region at Bridge Field and Motostoke Riverbank.

Normally, encountering an Elgyem in Bridge Field is only a 10% chance in normal weather and overcast. However, if you've beaten the game and unlocked the 'heavy fog' weather pattern, you'll increase your odds of encountering this Pokémon to a 20% chance. Elgyem can also be found at the Motostoke Riverbank at a 30% chance, only in fog.

Ultimately, your best bet of catching Elgyem is in foggy weather. There's a chance you can catch this elusive Pokémon in normal weather, but your chances increase exponentially if you take advantage of the post-game foggy weather to catch it.

However, waiting for the weather to be foggy in Bridge Field and the Motostoke Riverbank can be taxing. But luckily, there's a way to change the weather yourself.

Also, just a fair warning for you Elgyem-hunters, if you see an Elgyem in the overworld, don't be scared when it teleports and then appears right in front of you, it tends to do that. It can also be pretty quick, but if you can anticipate where it may teleport to, or happen to encounter it in the grass, you'll have no trouble encountering this Pokémon.

How To Evolve Elgyem Into Beheeyem

via pokemon.fandom.com

If you wish to evolve your Elgyem into Beheeyem, you'll need to level it up to level 42. It'll be well worth your time, as Beheeyem is a psychic-type force to be reckoned with. Fortunately, with Exp. Candies or Rare Candies, Pokémon Sword and Shield makes it easier than ever to level up your weaker Pokémon or evolve Pokémon that need to level up to do so.

You can play Pokémon Sword and/or Shield exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
