Water-type Pokémon are very common, making up a total of 16.1 percent of all Pokémon. Water is actually the most common type in the Pokémon world, so it's no surprise that Galar is home to quite a few.

From new faces to old staples, Water-types are quite common around the region, both in the Wild Area and elsewhere. The Isle of Armor also saw quite a few older generation Pokémon make a return, many of which were Water-type. Here are all the Water-types that can be caught in Sword & Shield and the Isle of Armor expansion and how to get them.

Note: Most Pokémon here can be caught in Max Raid Battles, and evolved forms can usually be found somewhere in the wild if you don't want to evolve a base stage. Additionally, some Pokémon that can be caught in the Wild Area will only spawn during certain weather conditions, so double check before searching!

47 Sobble, Drizzile, and Inteleon

The first Water-type you'll have any chance of getting your hands on is Sobble, which can be chosen as your starter. Simply level it up to level 16 and it will evolve into Drizzile, which then evolves into Inteleon at level 35. If you pick a different starter, you'll have to trade for a Sobble.

46 Lotad, Lombre, and Ludicolo

If you're looking to get your hands on a Lotad, you'll need either Shield or a friend with it to trade one to you, as it's exclusive to that version. It can be found on Route 2, in the Rolling Fields, Dappled Grove, or around West Lake Axwell. It evolves into Lombre at level 14, and then into Ludicolo with a Water Stone.

45 Chewtle and Drednaw

One of the earlier Pokémon that can be caught is Chewtle — a Water-type. They're available in many places, including Routes 2, 4, and 5, Galar Mine No. 2, and in various sections of the Wild Area and Isle of Armor. Chewtle can also be caught by fishing in Motostoke. They evolve into the Water/Rock-type Drednaw at level 22, which also has a Gigantamax Form.

44 Wingull and Pelipper

Soaring around a ton of different Wild Area regions, including the Rolling Fields and more, and hovering over the land in many Isle of Armor areas is Wingull, a Water/Flying-type from Generation III.

After catching one, level it to 25 for it to evolve into Pelipper.

43 Krabby and Kingler

Keep your eyes peeled in West Lake Axewell, South Lake Miloch, Giant's Cap, the Fields of Honor, or Loop Lagoon and you may find a Krabby. Evolve it into Kingler, who has a Gigantamax Form, by leveling it to level 28.

42 Wooper and Quagsire

A fun Water/Ground-type family with some strange but funny design choices consists of Wooper and Quagsire. Wooper can be found in West Lake Axewell, South Lake Miloch, Giant's Seat, Giant's Cap, or the Soothing Wetlands. Evolve it into Quagsire at level 20.

41 Corphish and Crawdaunt

If you love crustaceans and Krabby just isn't enough, get yourself a Corphish. This Water-type can be caught in Galar Mine No. 2, or in the Wild Area's South Lake Miloch and Giant's Cap. You'll also find it in a few areas around the Isle of Armor. Evolve it into the Dark/Water-type Crawdaunt at level 30.

40 Tympole, Palpitoad, and Seismitoad

The ugly-but-powerful Seismitoad is a fun Pokémon to use in competitive battles, and you can get one for yourself in Sword & Shield.

Head to Dappled Grove, West Lake Axewell, North Lake Miloch, South Lake Miloch, or the Watchtower Ruins to grab yourself a Tympole. Evolve it at level 25 into Palpitoad, then evolve it again at level 36 for a Seismitoad.

39 Magikarp and Gyarados

One of the most beloved fan-favorite Pokémon of all time is Gyarados, and of course, you can catch them in Galar. Find a Magikarp in several places, including fishing in the Slumbering Weald or on Route 2, 4, 5, or 6, or look for it in most bodies of water in the Wild Area or Isle of Armor. It evolves into Gyarados at level 20.

38 Goldeen and Seaking

Hailing from the Kanto region originally, Goldeen and Seaking can be found swimming in the waters of Galar. Head to Route 4, 5, or 6 or many different places in the Wild Area to find Goldeen. It can also be found in the Forest of Focus on the Isle of Armor. It evolves into Seaking at level 33.

37 Remoraid and Octillery

Another older-generation Water-type that can be found in Galar is Remoraid and its evolution, Octillery. Remoraid can be caught on Route 9, Axew's Eye, South Lake Miloch, the Fields of Honor, or in the Workout Sea. Evolve it into Octillery at level 25.

36 Shellder and Cloyster

If you are looking to have a very solid defensive powerhouse on your team, look no further than the Water/Ice-type Cloyster.

It evolves from Shellder when exposed to a Water Stone. Find that Shellder in West Lake Axewell, East Lake Axewell, Giant's Seat, Courageous Cavern, or Loop Lagoon.

35 Feebas and Milotic

One of the most fascinating Pokémon is Feebas, an incredibly weak and unsightly Pokémon that evolves to the very viable and beautiful Milotic. Find Feebas on Route 2 by fishing, but be warned: it has an extremely low encounter rate. After you catch one, evolve it into Milotic by trading it while it holds a Prism Scale.

34 Basculin

Another version exclusive takes the form of Basculin, which has two forms. Find Red-Striped Basculin in Sword in Hulbury, North Lake Miloch, or Bridge Field. Find the Blue-Striped form in the same places, but in Shield. Then, find someone to trade with for the opposite!

33 Wishiwashi

With the lowest base stat total of any Pokémon in existence, Wishiwashi is a humorous and sad creature that becomes terrifying after its ability, Schooling, triggers (only after it has reached level 20, though). Look for it on Route 9, in Hulbury, or in the Wild Area's West Lake Axewell, East Lake Axewell, or Axew's Eye.

32 Pyukumuku

Sticking to the topic of strange Water-types from the Alola region brings us to Pyukumuku.

This Pokémon doesn't evolve, but find it for its Pokédex entry by fishing in Giant's Seat. It also appears on the overworld on Route 9 and South Lake Miloch.

31 Arrokuda and Barraskewda

One of the (very) few new Water-types introduced in Generation VIII is Arrokuda, which can be caught in a few places, including Route 2, Hulbury, and the Motostoke Riverbank, as well as a few bodies of water around the Isle of Armor. Evolve it into the super-speedy Barraskewda at level 26.

30 Vaporeon

One of Eevee's evolutions is the Water-type Vaporeon. It can, of course, be evolved from Eevee with the use of a Water Stone. But, Vaporeon will also spawn in the overworld at the Lake of Outrage when it rains.

29 Dewpider and Araquanid

Returning to Alola for a moment brings the next entry: Dewpider and Araquanid, Bug/Water-types that made their way to Galar. Find Dewpider on Route 5, at the Motostoke Riverbank, or in the Stony Wilderness. Evolve it into Araquanid at level 22.

28 Chinchou and Lanturn

Looking to grab a Chinchou for your team? Catch it in East Lake Axewell, Giant's Mirror, Hulbury, or West Lake Axewell.

It's also findable on the Isle of Armor in the Workout Sea, Stepping-Stone Sea, Insular Sea, Honeycalm Sea, or Honeycalm Island. It evovles into Lanturn at level 27.
