The Wild Areas of Pokemon Sword & Shield are by far the best places to get Pokemon from previous generations. They can also contain some powerful fighters that will serve the player well in PVE or even PVP combat.

But some Pokemon will only make an appearance under specific weather conditions. The following are Pokemon who have a preference for Heavy Fog and where the player can go to track them down.

26 Clefairy

Clefairy will appear in the Wild Area during Heavy Fog. It’ll be found in the Giant’s Cap, Giant’s Cap – Area 2, Giant’s Cap - Area 3, and Motostoke Riverbank. The last area is best as it has a 40% appearance rate.

25 Clefable

fairy type competitive battling anime

Clefable can only be found in the Motostoke Riverbank part of the Wild Area when the fog rolls in. It’s a decent Pokemon to have for PVP battles thanks to Fairy typing, decent HP, and the Magic Guard ability to protect it from indirect attacks. It’s not the greatest wall/cleric, but it’ll do for those starting out.

24 Wigglytuff

Wigglytuff can be encountered in the new Wild Area introduced by the Isle of Armor DLC. It’s found in the Fields of Honor, Soothing Wetlands, Forest of Focus, Challenge Beach, Loop Lagoon, and Training Lowlands. It’s a rare find no matter how you slice it so pick an area where you’ll find others on this list and start looking.

23 Kadabra

Kadabra is also found in the new Wild Area of Isle of Armor. It’s found in the Fields of Honor and Soothing Wetlands. Kadabra has good Speed with great Special Attack, but struggles from awful Defense, Special Defense, and HP. It might be able to successfully revenge kill a few but it’ll die quickly after.

22 Togetic

Togetic can be found exclusively in the Stony Wilderness and has a 10% chance of showing up when there is Fog. Togetic isn’t a great fighter, but its evolved form Togekiss is a great stall breaker.

21 Azumaril

Azumaril can be found wandering the Soothing Wetlands, Forest of Focus, Challenge Beach, and Training Lowlands in Isle of Armor’s Wild Area.

A Belly Drum, Huge Power, and Aqua Jet combination is brutal when done properly.

20 Blissey

Blissey is found in a lot of places in the new Wild Area. It’s found in the Fields of Honor, Soothing Wetlands, Forest of Focus, Challenge Beach, Brawler’s Cave, Challenge Road, Courageous Cavern, Loop Lagoon, Training Lowlands, Warm-Up Tunnel, Potbottom Desert, Workout Sea, Stepping-Stone Sea, and Honeycalm Island. Despite being found almost anywhere it still only has a 2% appearance rate making it a rough Pokemon to find.

19 Kirlia

Kirlia is only found in the Rolling Fields during Foggy weather. It’s not a great fighter, but its evolved forms Gardevoir and Gallade are both excellent warriors in their respective roles. Gallade is a brutal wallbreaker and Gardevoir can punish switch-ins. So the player should consider catching two.

18 Sableye

Sableye Pokemon from anime

Sableye is trickier to find as it’s only located in the Wild Area of Pokemon Shield. In that game, it’ll be located in the Dusty Bowl and Giant’s Mirror – Area 2. Either spot is fine as they both have a 35% appearance rate.

17 Milotic

Milotic can only be found in the Wild Area during Heavy Fog and while surfing in the Lake of Outrage or South Lake Miloch. It can act as a decent wall that applies burning with Scald or poison with Toxic and then Recovers over and over again until the opponent dies.

16 Togekiss

Togekiss can only be found in the Dusty Bowl during Heavy Fog and has a 2% chance of appearing there. As mentioned before this Fairy/Flying-type is worth the hunt as it’s a strong stallbreaker. It has high Special Attack and Special Defense and can use Nasty Plot to boost that Special Attack even further.

15 Musharna

Musharna floating innocently in the sky in the Pokemon Anime.

Musharna can be found wandering the Bridge Field and Giant’s Seat during Foggy conditions. It’s a mediocre wall against Fighting-types and to switch-in better fighters with Healing Wish.

14 Gothita

Gothita is a rather common Pokemon to catch in Heavy Fog. It can be found in Giant’s Cap and Giant’s Cap – Area 2 with the latter giving it a 50% appearance rate. Being the beginner of an evolutionary chain it’s rather weak and not worth using as a fighter.

13 Gothorita

Gothita’s evolved form Gothorita is found in a few more places such as Dusty Bowl, Giant’s Mirror – Area 2, and Giant’s Cap – Area 3.

The last place being best as it has a 50% appearance rate.

12 Gothitelle

Gothitelle is the end of the evolution chain for Gothita and makes an appearance during Heavy Fog. It can be found exclusively in the Lake of Outrage and has a 12% chance of showing up. Gothitelle is something of a troll in PVP as a PP staller.

11 Solosis

Solosis is only found in the Wild Area in Pokemon Shield. It’s located in Giant’s Cap, Giant’s Cap – Area 2, and Giant’s Cap – Area 3. The last two are the best places due to a 50% encounter rate.

10 Duosion

Duosion opening its mouth on a diagonal background

Duosion is also only found in the Wild Area of Pokemon Shield. To catch one players need to go to the Dusty Bowl or Giant’s Mirror – Area 2 during Heavy Fog. Either area works as they both have a 10% appearance rate.

9 Reuniclus

generation V psychic type pokemon

The end of the Solosis evolutionary chain is Reuniclus and once again it’s only found in Pokemon Shield. It’s exclusive to the Lake of Outrage and interestingly has a 13% appearance rate making it easier to find than Duosion.

8 Meowstic

Supposedly the male version of Meowstic is exclusive to Pokemon Sword and the female version is in Pokemon Shield. In either case they’re found during Heavy Fog in the Dusty Bowl and have a 45% chance of appearing.

7 Aegislash

aegislash base form pokken

Aegiislash can be found wandering in the Giant’s Cap part of the Wild Area. It’s an adaptable Pokemon thanks to its two forms serving as an effective checker to a variety of Pokemon in PVP.
