The right Poké Ball can make or break the catching experience. If trainers don't have the right one for a particularly difficult capture, they could be there a while– and burn through a lot of Poké Balls in the process. So instead of running around from shop to shop trying to find the proper one, check out this Poké Ball cheat sheet for Pokémon Sword and Shield to save some time!

Pokécenters

Pokéshops are located inside Pokécenters. All shops have at least one cashier that sells the generic Poké Ball. As the player earns more badges, Great and Ultra Balls become available from these vendors as well. One Premiere Ball is gifted along with the purchase of every ten pokéballs (of any style) from the shop. Motostoke, Hammerlocke, and Wyndon's Pokéshops have two cashiers. the one on the left sells the usual Poké Ball while the cashier on the right sells a selection of specialty Poké Balls. The selection varies within each shop.

Motostoke - Heal, Nest, Net

Hammerlocke - Dive, Dusk, Timer

Wyndon - Quick, Repeat, Luxury

Pokejobs, accessible through the Rotomi located in Pokécenters, are a roll of the dice. However, many different specialty Poké Ball are possible rewards upon completion.

Watt Traders and the Wild Area

Watt Traders are a good alternative for obtaining specialty Poké Ball. These NPCs are stationed throughout the Wild Area and only charge 50 Watts per Poké Ball. The only problem is they exclusively feature one specialty pokéball at a time and the available option switches out daily. Watt Traders may be found in the Meet-up Spot, Dappled Grove, Giant's Seat, East Lake Axwell, Bridge Field, Giants Cap, and Hammerlocke Hills.

Poké Balls may also be found as items on the ground. Trainers are most likely to find a regular Poké Ball or Great Ball, but there's the off chance of stumbling upon a specialty Poké Ball. Also in the Wild Area, a Fast Ball is awarded for completing ten Rotom Rallies.

The Ball Guy stationed in Gym lobbies (or outside) gift trainers specialty Poké Ball, not attainable in the shops. These gifts are available only one time each.

Motostoke - Friend

Hulbury - Lure

Circhester - Moon

Wyndon - Dream

Hammerlocke - Level

Ballonlea - Love

Stow-On-Side - Heavy

Master Ball

Via gamerant.com

The most exclusive Poké Ball isn't available until after the end game. After the credits have rolled, trainers find themselves back home, standing in their bedroom. Upon entering the kitchen, Professor Magnolia stops in for a visit and gifts the player a single Master Ball in thanks for all they have done to save Galar.

Beast Ball

Via twinfinite.net

There is also a Beast Ball available for free at the Stow-On-Side street market after becoming Champion. However, as the sole description of this Ball states, it has a low success rate on regular pokémon. Beast Balls are used for capturing Ultra Beasts, but seeing as there are none in Sword and Shield, trainers can probably pass on this one.

While there's a selection of specialty Poké Ball that may only be acquired by chance, the most useful may be dependably found within the three main hubs of Galar. The ever-exuberant Ball Guy is also there to fill out trainers' inventory with one-off gifts and the Wild Area will never leave trainers stock completely barren. With a wide selection of pokéballs in the arsenal, no Pokémon should prove too elusive.
