Pokémon Sword and Shield have officially been out for almost a month now and fans are still ardently playing the games every day. Despite some of the negative buzz surrounding the game's bigger changes, many game fans have found plenty to enjoy. The Wild Area, in particular, has been a big hit with most trainers.

Between surprise trades, shiny-hunting, and plenty of new Pokémon to catch, people have made some hilarious memes and jokes about specific aspects of the games. We've compiled some of the most hilarious ones on the internet.

10 Me fixing my router

Marnie is one of the most popular trainers and rivals in the game. She has her own legion of fans in the form of Team Yell.

This meme is a funny play on Marnie's groupies as she prepares to face-off against the player in a battle while a member of Team Yell cheers her on. Except with the meme format, it's how your family feels when you refresh the wireless router and make the internet work again.

9 This is where I would place my shiny Pokémon

If you've ever seen the Fairly Odd Parents then this meme picture probably looks familiar to you. It shows the Dad character being frustrated about not having any trophies despite having the perfect showroom picked out for them.

Many Pokémon players feel this way when they try to catch shinies only to come up with nothing. They're extremely difficult to catch and it involves a lot of patience and luck.

8 What being stalked by Pokémon feels like

One of the things Pokémon kept the same in Sword and Shield from Let's Go is the way Pokémon genuinely manifest in the world and walk around. You no longer have to walk through wild grass hoping for one to pop up, they're always there. The random encounters are still available, but they're by choice now, mostly.

That said, just because you have more control over which Pokémon you battle, it doesn't mean Pokémon won't try to come after you. The Electrikes, in particular, can move quite fast and if you're not careful you might find yourself surrounded by Pokémon or being chased by several.

7 Some of these Pokémon look familiar

Is this a picture of teapots and an apple or is it a player's Pokémon party? The joke is that the person who posted this couldn't get any good screenshots so they just decided to take real-life pictures.

Well, if you've played the game you know an apple could be hiding an Applin. Applin spends its entire life inside of an apple and even its evolutions are variations on the fruit. As for the teapots, you never know when you might find the ghost Pokémon Sinestea or Poltergeist lurking inside.

6 Nobody is born cool except nice surprise traders

This hilarious comic illustrates the happiness people feel when they get an excellent surprise trade that consists of a rare, shiny, or 4+ IV Pokémon. It takes a lot of work to find Pokémon with good IV, and even more, to find a shiny Pokémon.

But some trainers are very good at breeding and know how to beat the odds. Friendly trainers will sometimes send out some of their finds when they've gotten too many through surprise trades which lets people get Pokémon they might not have found otherwise.

5 Yet another dreepy

When you're desperate to complete your Pokédex a good thing to do is just get as many surprise trades as you can to see what people are offering. However, don't be surprised if you wind up with tons of level one Dreepy.

At first, this might seem great since Dreepy is very hard to catch in the wild. But after you find yourself with 10-15 of them as people pawn off the non-shiny Dreepy, you'll realize it's not much of a prize.

4 Hop's reaction to you beating him

Hop is now notorious for being one of the kindest rivals in the entire Pokémon franchise. It's like no matter what you do, the guy will never say a bad word to you and just persists in trying to be the best.

It makes most players feel guilty about constantly knocking out his Pokémon, especially with only a single move. He's a little comparable to baby Yoda, sweet, cute, and totally innocent.

3 Hop sure talks a lot

Early on in the game, you'll be on the bus with Hop on the way to start your adventure. We don't actually get to see what your player types up on their phone screen but this meme suggests the player is calling home to Mom to complain about Hop.

While Hop is certainly a sweetheart, he does talk often. Seriously, the guy can talk your ear off and seems to have no self-awareness about it.

2 Hop is always there watching and waiting

As we've already mentioned, Hop is your rival in both Pokémon Sword and Shield, you'll need to get used to spending a great deal of time with him and battling against him. It seems like no matter where you go, Hop is always a short way away, watching you.

You will find him all over the place, popping up at just about every route you finish in every town. It's not dissimilar to having someone watching you through the blinds like Jim is doing in this meme from The Office.

1 Having to fight Greedent for berries

Berries are very important to have in both Sword and Shield. While berries have always been an important asset to the Pokémon franchise, they are great ways to help your Pokémon raise their stats, heal from things like paralysis and poisoning, and even recuperate HP over a long battle.

The only way for you to get them in these games is to approach a berry tree. You can shake it as many times as you want but if you're not careful a Pokémon will fall out of the tree and force you into a battle. If this happens, when you're done, many of the berries will often be gone, stolen by nearby wild Pokémon. So don't be greedy and especially watch your back if you see any Greedent hanging around.
