Although Galarian Ponyta and Kantonian Ponyta share some similarities, such as their name and horse-like appearance, they're still two very different Pokémon from each other, and there are many things about the two creatures that fans should know if they love both versions of Ponyta.

10 Galarian Ponyta Evolves At Level 40

Galarian Ponyta will evolve once it reaches a level of 40, which happens to be the same level that regular Ponyta evolves at as well.

Although there's a lot of different things between Galarion Ponyta and regular Ponyta, this is one of the few things that stand out for the two Pokémon that are exactly the same. Luckily, this means that players will be able to obtain a Galarian Rapidash very easily simply through leveling up their Pokémon.

9 Galarian Ponyta Is A Psychic-Type

Galarian Ponyta is a Psychic-type which is distinctly different from the Ponyta that fans have come to know from the Kanto region, which is a Fire-type Pokémon.

A lot of fans were happy that Galarian Ponyta gained the Psychic-typing in Generation 8 since it is such a different creature than regular Ponyta in terms of its moveset. Hopefully, there will be even more new forms for creatures that are completely different types in the future.

8 Galarian Ponyta Has Pink And Blue Fur

Galarian Ponyta has beautiful pink and blue fur, which is much different from regular Ponyta, which has orange fire where its counterpart's fur is located on its body.

A lot of fans of this new form of Ponyta are very happy with the new color scheme since it is so bright and colorful when compared to Kantonian Ponyta. Since Kantonian Ponyta is somewhat basic, it is great to see a new form for this creature with such vibrant colors.

7 Galarian Ponyta Has A Horn

Galarian Ponyta has a horn on its head, which allows it to resemble a unicorn in appearance. A lot of fans have wanted a unicorn Pokémon for a very long time, and they finally got their wish when Galarian Ponyta was introduced in Generation 8.

Ponyta from the Kanto region seems to resemble a regular horse with flames for fur, which is creative, but not as interesting of an appearance as Galarian Ponyta.

6 Galarian Ponyta Has Fur Around Its Legs

Galarian Ponyta has tufts of fur around its legs, right above its hooves. Regular Ponyta doesn't have anything in this area other than skin, which is quite peculiar since there could have been fire around its legs.

Although this difference in appearance is small, it helps add to the adorable appearance that Galarian has in contrast with Kantonian Ponyta.

5 Galarian Ponyta's Shiny Form Is Tan And Green

Every Pokémon in the franchise has a unique shiny form that players can obtain if they happen to come across a shiny version of this Pokémon in the wild. Ponyta is no exception and has a shiny form that turns its flames blue, which is quite a pretty color for such a majestic Pokémon.

However, Galarian Ponyta looks very different with a light green and tan appearance in its shiny form. Galarian Ponyta gains these colors for its fur when players encounter a shiny version of it in Galar.

4 Galarian Ponyta Has Light Eyes

Regular Ponyta has dark eyes that are jet black with a small pupil inside of them. Galarian Ponyta differs in this way because although its eyes are still somewhat dark in color, they are much lighter in general.

One of the best things about Galarian Ponyta's appearance is its beautiful eyes that are much shinier and generally brighter than Ponyta from the Kanto region.

3 Galarian Ponyta Has A Healing Power

Galarian Ponyta has a healing ability, which is discovered when players read its Pokédex entry. It is said that Galarian Ponyta's ability stems from its horn, which has some type of healing power.

Although it is not completely known where this power comes from, it is still an interesting fact about this creature that doesn't exist in Kantonian Ponyta at all. Some players consider Galarian Ponyta to be biologically better than Kantonian Ponyta for this fact alone.

2 Galarian Ponyta Is Only Present In Galar

Galarian Ponyta can only be found in the Galar region, which is much different from Kantonian Ponyta, which has been seen in almost every other region in the franchise. Although it is possible that there are other regions that Galarian Ponyta makes its home in, there's currently no evidence in the Pokémon franchise to point in this direction.

Regular Ponyta can be caught in many different regions in the franchise outside of Kanto, which is one of the biggest differences between it and Galarian Ponyta.

1 Galarian Ponyta Can Read A Person's Heart

The Pokédex entry for Galarian Ponyta states the fact that this Generation 8 version of Ponyta is able to read a person's heart simply by looking at them.

If this fact is true, it isn't present in Kantonian Ponyta, and it is one of the biggest differences between the two creatures. This ability is yet another amazing skill that Galarian Ponyta has in contrast with its Kantonian counterpart.
