There are many wholesome Pokémon out there, but none may truly be as wholesome as the Chansey line. This pink, gentle ovoid Pokémon is best remembered as being the assistant to Nurse Joys all over the Pokémon world. Chansey's final form, Blissey, is said to comfort those feeling sad with the overwhelming love it carries with it and will go to anyone it senses feeling down. Since the egg of this Pokémon is so valuable and overhunted, it has a limited population and often lives in protected areas or cities. Chansey is part of the group of Pokémon added to the Galar dex after the update that came with the DLC of Pokémon Sword and Shield, though you do not need to purchase it to get the Pokedex update. Learn about why this Pokémon makes such a good battler as much it does a cuddler!

Location and How To Evolve

Chansey can be found everywhere in the DLC wild areas, from the Fields of Honor to Honeycalm Island. They appear in most weather climates. Should you have chosen not to buy the expansion pass, you have a couple of options. First, you can have someone with a game with access to that area trade you one, or you can do it yourself using a handy dandy new system called Pokémon Home. Home is a cloud service mobile app that allows you to trade Pokemon between games, so you can bring one over from a Lets Go game or one of the 3DS titles. Pertaining you're using the latter route, you'll have to put the Chansey or Happiny into Pokémon Bank first, and then transfer it to Home, where you can put it into your Sword or Shield game.

Now let's say you brought it over but either you would prefer to raise yours from a Happiny or just want one to fill your Pokdex. What you'll need to do for this is go to the Hulbury market (the city where Nessa's gym is) and purchase a Luck Incense from the Incense saleswoman. Put it on your Chansey and then place the Pokémon into the daycare with a Ditto as its partner and you should have a little bundle of joy on your hands very shortly.

To evolve your Happiny, you'll need to level it up during the daytime while it's holding an Oval Stone. You can find one in the water in the Courageous Cavern in Isle of Armor or make one using the Cram-O-Matic with one wiki berry and three Dynamax candies. If you do not have the Expansion Pass, it is best if you make sure your Pokémon is holding the stone when you bring it over from another game. They are often held by wild Happiny in the Sun and Moon games, so this shouldn't be too much of an issue if you're going that route. Chansey evolve into their final form, Blissey, with high friendship. In order to achieve this, simply keep in your party, use it in battle, walk around with it, etc. If possible, avoid letting it faint since this can inhibit the process of evolution by friendship. Fortunately, it has a very high HP that makes it hard to knock out, a plus among many other of its battle qualities.

How To Use Blissey

As a normal-type Pokémon, it's slightly difficult to get Blissey to do a lot of damage, but its tanky HP makes it perfect to bring into Dynamax raids as a support party member. It's own move, Soft Boiled, will keep it alive while moves like Heal Pulse and Life Dew will help out the other team members since Dynamax raids can end if enough Pokémon faint. For one combatant move, Double-Edge is perfect because Chansey's support moves can counteract it's damage to the user effect.
