People go off on Game Freak all the time for "running out of ideas" when it comes to Pokémon designs, but... well... what do we think of Eiscue? Is it a lack of ideas? Is it massive innovation? Is the design so superior that it rolled over to the point that it's bad? Look, there are many ways that you can describe Eiscue, but no matter what the verdict is, it's a fact that many trainers want this well-hatted penguin on their team. So, where can you find Esciue in Pokémon Sword & Shield?

Where To Find Eiscue

To begin, if you're a Pokémon Sword player, you're not going to be able to find Eiscue in-game, as it is a Pokémon Shield exclusive. However, you might have a good chance of nabbing the Pokémon through Pokémon Home's GTS by offering a Shield player a Pokémon Sword exclusive, such as Sirfetch'd. Otherwise, you can try to get it through something like the Surprise Trade function.

If you are a Shield player, though, finding Eiscue is quite the easy task. Eiscue isn't a very rare Pokémon and can be found in many places throughout the Galar Region. You can find Eiscue in many areas of the Wild Area. Eiscue can be found in Hammerlocke Hills, Giant's Seat, Giant's Cap, Dusty Bowl, and Lake of Outrage. It can also be found in the Stony Wilderness through Max Raid Battles.

Eisuce's Evolutions And Forms

Eiscue does not evolve, nor does it get a Mega Evolution or Gigantamax form. It does have another appearance when it battles, however...

What Eiscue Does In Battle

If you want to capture Eiscue, you don't have to look very far. And why wouldn't you want to capture it? It's a very interesting Pokémon with an interesting Ability to go with it. Its Ability, Ice Face, protects Eiscue from the first physical attack that hits it. Once it's been hit, the giant ice block on the top of its head is broken, and he loses some of its defensive capabilities while gaining speed. If hail is set up after Eiscue has transformed, it can regain the ice block on its head, in turn repeating the process again. This Ability does not work with special attacks. While Ice Face is a unique Ability when it comes to battles, it also changes the appearance of Eiscue to reveal... its true head? That is somehow weirder than its original form? Eiscue is a weird Pokémon, so be sure to add it to your Dex. It's earned it.
