Shinx is a very popular cat among Pokémon fans for its cute and cuddly appearance, growing from a small cub to a majestic lion. Those who watched the XY anime will remember the Shinx that Clemont befriended in his youth. They would go on to become partners years later, both with the goal in mind to make the world a better place for Pokémon. This electrical feline is as strong as it is cute, and now it is available in the Galar Dex, in the Isle of Armor Expansion Pass DLC of Sword & Shield. Learn more about this cat, where to find it, and why it would be the perfect addition to your team.

Originally from the Sinnoh region, Shinx loves the rainy climate of Galar. Its body creates electricity by contracting its muscles and as a Luxio, can produce a million volts worth of power. Luxio's final form, Luxray, is a master predator with the ability to see through even the thickest walls, living up to its nickname as the Gleam Eyes Pokémon. Like real-life lions, Shinx has different appearances depending on if they are male or female, with the females having slightly less furry heads than the males. These differences do not follow into their evolutions, however.

Where to Find Shinx

Shinx can be found in the Challenge Beach, Challenge Road, Training Lowlands, and Potbottom Desert. They prefer to be out and about in rain and thunderstorm climates, so that's the best time to go and search for one. You can still get one if you decided not to purchase the Expansion Pass, but you'll have to bring it over from Pokémon Home. The cloud service software allows you to store your Pokémon from various past games, including 3DS and Let's Go titles.

Pokémon brought in from past core games will have to be placed into Pokémon Bank (the cloud system on the 3DS) first before being transferred into Home. Shinx itself is not available to catch in Sun & Moon (note it's not available at all in the second version, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon) or in the Ruby & Sapphire remakes. Your best bet is to catch a female version of its middle form, Luxio, and breed it with a Ditto at the daycare.

How To Evolve And Use Shinx

Shinx evolves to Luxio at level fifteen, and then into Luxray at level thirty. Despite being strong, it takes quite a bit of leveling to get it to learn any useful moves, so you'll want to step in with some TMs. Electric impulse, also known as TM93, is a non-combatant electric-type move that will harshly lower the opponent's Special Attack. You can find it in the Rose Tower. Another great support move to have for your Luxray is Electric Terrain, which will boost the power of Electric-type moves by thirty percent.

As far as offensive moves go, Thunderbolt is a great choice and can be purchased from a Watt trader for 5,000 watts. Thunder, its stronger counterpart, can also be bought for 8,000 watts. Thunder's hitting accuracy is notorious low, so make sure it additionally knows Thunderbolt so you're not relying on a hard-to-hit move.
