Swinub's a little hairy piglet Pokémon with a three-tier evolution chain. Its mammoth-sized final evolution, Mamoswine, boasts dependable mid-grade stats with a focus on attack. Here's how to wrangle one.

Finding Swinub

Swinub spawns aren't overly abundant as they only appear during snowfall, but there's a slightly higher chance of encountering one in Pokémon Shield. The Dusty Bowl and Giant's Mirror- Area 2 will sometimes have Swinubs roaming the overworld.

Otherwise, trainers will have to scavenge through the tall grass within the Giant's Mirror, Giant's Seat, Hammerlocke Hills, and Rolling Fields. In both Sword & Shield, Swinub may appear as a random encounter within these regions of the Wild Area.

Trainers who would rather take the Max Raid approach can check the dens within the Dusty Bowl or Stony Wilderness.

Swinub evolves into Piloswine at level 33, but to complete the evolution chain, trainers will need a Swinub that has inherited the egg move Ancient Power. With this stipulation met, Piloswine will evolve into Mamoswine upon leveling up.

Swinub learns its heaviest hitting moves between levels 40-50. These are the normal-type Takedown, the ground-type Earthquake, and the Ice move Blizzard. Trainers could choose to hold off Swinub's evolution until learning these moves, but for the sake of beefing up the Pokémon's base stats, they'll probably want to evolve straight away. Piloswine and Mamoswine are also capable of learning these moves, just a little later down the road.
