Giant baby Pokémon are appearing all over the Wild Area in the Galar region as part of a new event in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

Pokémon Gold & Silver introduced the concept of baby Pokémon to the series, alongside the breeding mechanic. Baby Pokémon have never been that popular with fans, due to the extra effort required to breed some of them. The leaked build of Pokémon Gold & Silver from Spaceworld '97 revealed that lots of other baby Pokémon were planned at one point in development, but Game Freak cut the list significantly for the final version of the game.

It's easier than ever to find baby Pokémon in Pokémon Sword & Shield over the next few days, as a new event is adding Dynamax babies to the Wild Area. According to an announcement on the official Pokémon website, there is an event running from now until April 15 that will make baby Pokémon appear in Pokémon Dens throughout the Wild Area.

Alongside a potential perfect IV Ditto, the player can expect to encounter Pichu, Cleffa, Togepi, Tyrogue, Wynaut, Budew, Bonsly, Mime Jr., Munchlax, Riolu, Mantyke, and Toxel in Max Raid Battles. These will be encountered in their Dynamax forms and have a chance of dropping rare items after the battle. The player needs to be connected to the Internet for these Max Raid battles to take place.

The live events in Pokémon Sword & Shield have made it easy to find tricky Pokémon, as well as giving players more of an opportunity to find Gigantamax Pokémon. The baby Pokémon can be a pain to acquire, so the new event takes some of the effort out of having to breed Pokémon for something that is only going to be used as Pokédex filler. The player only has a few more days to catch the giant babies, so the people who still haven't finished the Galar 'dex will need to hurry if they want an easy way to find these infants.

The Ditto and baby Pokémon event will run in Pokémon Sword & Shield from now until April 15, 2020.
