With the Isle of Armor DLC scheduled to release for Pokémon Sword & Shield on June 17, players are beginning to purchase the necessary Expansion Passes in order to get access to the additional content. However, it seems that many players are accidentally purchasing the wrong Expansion Pass for their copy of Pokémon Sword & Shield.

The information comes from the official Nintendo Japan Twitter account in which it issued a statement after seeing multiple reports of players buying the incorrect Expansion Pass. Although the tweets are in Japanese, according to their translations, Nintendo Japan is stating that it has received inquiries of Pokémon Shield owners purchasing the Expansion Pass for Pokémon Sword, and how the Pass itself is divided for both games separately. The Twitter account also shows that accessing the online store directly from the games will bring players to the correct Expansion Pass.

Interestingly enough, this is not the first time that Nintendo cautioned players to be careful when purchasing the Expansion Passes for Pokémon Sword & Shield. Back when the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLCs were initially announced, Nintendo warned players to be careful about purchasing the wrong Expansion Pass. On top of that, the company also said that players should be careful buying bundled versions (the game along with the Expansion Pass that is included) if they already own the base game, unless they wish to buy the other version. Fast forward to today, and it seems that some of the players weren't careful enough and made the mistake of purchasing the wrong Expansion Pass.

Unfortunately, according to the source of the provided information, Nintendo will not be issuing any refunds if players accidentally buy the wrong Expansion Pass. In other words, if a Pokémon Sword player buys a Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass, then they will either have to buy Pokémon Shield since they own the respective Expansion Pass, or leave it as is and buy the Pokémon Sword Expansion pass instead.

Either way, all Pokémon Sword & Shield players need to exercise caution and care when buying the Expansion Passes and use the in-game menu to avoid any sort of confusion.
