There’s a lot to digest with when you first start playing Pokémon Sword & Shield. A new region, new Pokémon, new characters… it’s easy to get overwhelmed with everything that’s thrown your way. Beyond the basics, the Galar region offers players tons of extra content — so long as they are willing to do a bit of exploring. Here are a few things you might have missed during your time with the game:

The Hi-Tech What?

If you never tried adjusting the sound levels in the game, we don’t blame you. The musical score is absolutely wonderful and there’s really no need to mess around with the settings. For those who enjoy listening to their own music during adventures, well, they were in for a bit of a shock. By default, the sound settings are not adjustable. You’ll need to talk with a random NPC in Motostoke to acquire the Hi-Tech Earbuds, an item that unlocks the ability to modify the sound settings. If you aren’t the adventurous type, he’s easy to miss.

Happy Birthday To You!

via Reddit

We’re going to go out on a limb and say that you probably haven’t played Sword & Shield on your birthday. If you have, what are the odds that you were cooking up a delicious curry? Even if you did happen to be doing both of those things, it’s still easy to miss this Easter Egg — curry cooked on your birthday will appear with a candle on it. Honestly, the fact that this was ever caught is pretty incredible.

Modify Your Bike Uniform Colors

via Reddit

Getting bored of the colors of your bike uniform? Luckily, this can be modified! Pay a visit to the NPC hanging out around the Nursery in the Wild Area and he will offer to change the color of your uniform. However, players can’t directly pick the colors. Instead, the colors are determined based on the type of Pokémon that is the first in your party.

Face To Face Camping

via GamesRadar

Looking to get some good pictures of your Pokémon while camping? Pressing the right joystick will lower the player down to eye level with their Pocket Monsters. This allows for much easier viewing of your Pokémon friends. It’s a nice touch for players who like to take photographs, but it's never really explained in the game.

Do A Little Dance

via TechRaptor

Most players may have discovered this by now, but it’s still a great, albeit unexplained, feature. Simply move the left joystick in a circular pattern as fast as you can — eventually, your character will spin in a circle and strike the trademarked “Leon Pose.”

Whistling Is Scary

via Attack of the Fanboy

While Pokémon Sword & Shield explain how to whistle, the games don’t discuss exactly what it does. Sure, it lures in nearby Pokémon, but it also scares away low level monsters — as well as those with a shy disposition.

Pokémon Sword & Shield are full of wonderful Easter Eggs. On the surface, the games are a straight-forward adventure where the only goal is to become the new Champion of Galar. However, for gamers willing to dig a bit deeper, there is plenty of extra content to discover.
