Gigantamaxing has been introduced as one of the new battling features in Pokémon Sword & Shield. Think of the most hyperbolized version of a Pokémon imaginable and then make them the size of Godzilla - that's gigantamaxing. A new trailer has surfaced featuring more Gigantamax forms. This time, the trailer included a flame-engulfed gigantamaxed Charizard, which can only mean it's a matter of time before Blastoise and Venusaur make gigantamaxed appearances as well.

Gigantamaxed Charizard - Flames, Flames, and More Flames

Charizard's Gigantamax form is everything fans might expect. It's more savage than ever and is nearly engulfed in flames. In Gigantamax form, Charizard has shed his reptilian wings for a smaller set consisting entirely of flame. Gigantamaxed Charizard also dons a new collar of fire along and has flames pluming from its mouth and horns. Underneath all of the fire, Charizard has also become more beastly in other ways. It now brandishes sharper, overgrown claws on both hands and feet and has a new speckled pattern on its knees, which is oddly reminiscent of the designs seen on Bulbasaur and Ivysaur. A larger form of the pattern is emblazoned within its newly glowing belly circle.

In Gigantamax form, Charizard will know the move Wildfire, which enhances its firepower and effects all non-Fire type Pokémon for four turns. The animation for it looks like a Fire-type version of the Flying-type move Brave Bird.

So, What About Blastoise and Venusaur?

via hypebeat.com

Fans more partial to Gen 1's Water and Grass-type starters have been in a virtual frenzy over when or whether Gigantamaxed forms of Blastoise and Venusaur will be revealed before launch. A particularly determined group began brainstorming a series of fan theories, portraying possible Gigantamaxed forms for these Pokémon. The depictions are pretty plausible given what we've already seen of Gigantamax Charizard.

Gigantamaxed-out Appearances

As Charizard dons more flames, it is likely the two other Pokémon will adapt a defining feature to be more amplified as well. A popular fan theory suggests that Venusaur will grow into a monstrous overgrown jungle. In the depiction, Venusaur's toes are replaced by thick roots. Other features include copious amounts of ferns, a jungle vine necklace, and a towering tropical tree on its back.

Blastoise's tanky build is expected to only get bigger when it transforms into its Gigantamax form. Its shell could look as if it might deflect bullets and it could gain a new set of water cannons along with tusk-like teeth, which would protrude from its mouth. Its claws seem to have received some sharpening as well.

These theories fit right in with Charizard's confirmed Gigantamax form, and the other Pokémon revealed in the trailer support the ideas even further. Pikachu not only takes on a nostalgically retro "chunky" form, but its tail is noticeably more zigzaggy. Eevee, on the other hand, transforms into a fluff monster with a large poofy mane and ears that are at least twice as long.

Unstoppable G-Max Moves

G-Maxes are the suped-up moves acquired by Pokémon once it transforms into its Gigantamax form. Gigantamax Pikachu is able to paralyze Pokémon-types that are typically immune to paralysis, while Gigantamax Charizard's aforementioned Wildfire is capable of severely damaging all non-Fire type Pokémon regardless of their type-advantage. With this in mind, it makes sense for Venusaur and Blastoise to boast similar enhancements. Perhaps we might see Venusaur develop an updated Vine Whip attack and Blastoise learn a more powerful Water Gun move.

Not If, But When

It seems extremely unlikely that The Pokémon Company would release a Gigantamax form of Charizard without introducing Venusaur and Blastoise. However, many fans expected the other two Gen 1 Pokémon to appear with Charizard.

When Pokémon will finally these maxed-out forms of Venusaur and Blastoise is still unknown. Many fans are wondering if Venusaur and Blastoise will make a Gigantamax appearance before the game's launch in mid-November. There is still some time before the game comes out, so it's possible that they will be featured to create more hype in a promo trailer just before launch. Regardless of when they arrive, we're sure fans will be excited to see the Gigantamax Gen 1 starters.
