With powerful featured cards, exclusive items (like coins and oversized cards), and multiple booster packs, premium collections are a fun way to add more cards to your Pokemon TCG collection. These bundles of cards and other merchandise vary considerably in content, with some including plushies and other collectibles in addition to the usual cards.
You can expect most premium collections to include a minimum of two promo cards and six or more standard TCG packs. While even the best collections are no replacement for a starter deck, they’ll certainly give you more than enough new cards to change how you play the game.
6 Lucario VSTAR
For fans of the iconic Fighting/Steel Pokemon from the Sinnoh region, the Lucario VSTAR premium collection is a great way to fill up a small binder. This fairly standard collection offers six booster packs, a collectible pin, a Lucario coin, and two Lucario cards.
These two featured cards, Lucario V and Lucario VSTAR, are ideal for decks set up to go for high-damage attacks and punish your opponent. Lucario V allows you to remove a Special Energy from your rival trainer’s Active Pokemon with the move Crushing Punch. And its evolved VSTAR form has a devastating one-use power that deals 70 damage for each Energy attached to your opponent’s Pokemon. Lucario VSTAR also has a move that can do as much as 240 damage if used on a Pokemon V, making it an exceptional choice for taking down strong Pokemon.
5 Arceus VSTAR
This collection comes with ten booster packs, giving you a good chance of picking up some rare cards along with the promotional Arceus V and VSTAR included in this package. That said, this collection doesn’t include a collectible coin or pin, so it’s best for someone interested in cards more than any other goodies.
Arceus V, one of the two featured Pokemon, is a Colorless type that lets you search your deck for up to three Basic Energies and attach them to Pokemon V in any way you like. The included VSTAR version of Arceus has an enhanced version of this move. With Trinity Nova, it can search for three Basic Energies and attack for 200 damage. Its VSTAR power, Starbirth, is also incredibly versatile, allowing you to search for any two cards in your deck and add them to your hand.
4 Darkrai VSTAR
A Sinnoh collection for fans of the Dark type, the mythical Darkrai is the featured Pokemon for this bundle. Although this collection offers a respectable eight booster packs, there isn’t much in the way of other collectibles. But what this premium collection lacks in unique merch, it makes up for with a pair of Pokemon that can enhance any Dark deck.
Darkrai V’s most notable attack is Dark Void, which deals 130 damage and is guaranteed to put an opponent’s Active Pokemon to sleep. Darkrai VSTAR gives you a way to recover two Item cards from the discard pile with its Star Abyss ability. Its main attack, Dark Pulse, makes it ideal for decks made up exclusively of Dark types. While this move deals a humble 30 damage by default, this increases by another 30 for every Dark Energy attached to any of your Active or Benched Pokemon.
3 Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR
The Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR premium collection brings two adaptable Pokemon and some fun collector’s items. With six booster packs, a brightly colored pin, and a metallic coin, this bundle is a good deal no matter how you enjoy the TCG. As Colorless types, Hisuian Zoroark V and VSTAR can be used in virtually any deck.
With the zero-Energy-cost move Void Return, Zoroark V can deal a quick 30 damage, then return to the Bench. Once its VSTAR form is on the field, Zoroark can discard your hand and let you replace it with seven new cards in addition to having a low-cost attack that can deal as much as 300 damage at full power.
2 Mythical Squishy
This premium collection is perfect if you want a combination of trading cards and other Pokemon merchandise. This set contains eight booster packs and three Mythical Pokemon cards, Mew, Celebi, and Victini. More importantly, each Pokemon is also included in foam plush form.
As for the cards themselves, Mew V can deal 30 damage for each Energy attached to both itself and your opponent’s Active Pokemon. Celebi allows you to search your deck for any two Pokemon and add them to your hand with a move that costs only one Grass energy. And Victini is useful for supporting Fire-type decks thanks to a move that lets you bring back three Fire Energies from your discard pile and attach them to your Pokemon in any way you want.
1 Eevee Evolutions
In addition to nine booster packs, the Eevee Evolutions premium collection gives you a V card for all eight evolved forms of Eevee — as well as a card for Eevee itself. Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Espion, Glaceon, Leafeon, and Sylveon V all have unique moves. From Vaporeon’s Splash Jump, which allows you to attack then swap out your Pokemon to Sylveon’s Ability to search out any Item card once per turn, this popular group of Pokemon offers something for everyone.
Although this collection gives you cards that can be added to dedicated Water, Fire, Lightning, Grass, Psychic, Dark, or even Colorless decks, Water and Psychic decks benefit slightly more. This is because both Vaporeon and Glaceon are Water types in the TCG, while Espeon and Sylveon are treated as Psychics.
