A new Pokemon special is on the horizon! Pokemon: The Arceus Chronicles is a new adventure starring Ash and old friends Dawn, Brock, and Claire. It seems like Team Galactic is up to no good as they unleash the legendary Pokemon Heatran for something unscrupulous no doubt. It will hit Netflix on September 23, 2022.

The special is inspired by the Legends: Arceus video game, and the trailer makes it look like some time travel to the old Hisui region could be involved. There's a recreated town made to look like it did back in the day, so it just seems like an opportunity too good to pass up, especially as the Pokemon movies have done time travel before.

The English-language version of the special will premiere a month ahead of its Netflix launch during the 2022 Pokemon World Championships, held in London, England on August 19. Spots at the screening will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so get your slot quick!

The trailer shows Ash and Goh as they explore the recreation of Jubilife City, the main hub of the Legends: Arceus game. as statues of Hisuian Pokemon magically come to life.

We next see Brock as a nurse before he rips off his shirt to reveal his rock-hard torso and commands his Steelix to burrow into the ground. We don't know why, we just know we like the way it all looks.

We also see Claire commanding her Roserade to attack something unknown, before we cut to Team Galactic HQ and see it unleash Heatran, the Legendary molten 'mon.

It looks like the special will pit the Emotion Trio of Mesprit, Azelf, and Uxie against Heatran in a showdown, no doubt aided by our group of heroes.

In other Pokemon news, Nintendo has brought some of the more feline critters to life in a 3D Pokemon billboard outside Tokyo's Shinjuku Station in honour of World Cat Day. It'll be up until September 5, so you've still got time to see it.
