Ahead of its mobile launch this month, Pokemon Unite has already surpassed nine million downloads. To mark the milestone, players will receive 2000 Aeos Tickets which will be awarded September 29.

This award is on top of previous giveaways, such as the Festival Style: Pikachu Holowear. This was unlocked September 1 after five million players pre-registered for the mobile launch.

Given the big numbers on both Switch and mobile, it's safe to say that Nintendo will be putting the MOBA down as a success for now. The mobile port launches September 22, so anyone without a Switch should be able to claim the prize too.

Aeos Tickets are used to purchase various in-game items, some cosmetic, and some that actually give you a boost in battle. While they can be used to dress up your trailer, their main (and most controversial) use is to buy item-enhancers, improving the abilities of the held items. This has led to some labelling the game as "pay to win", since held items give you perks such as increased speed, damage, and health restoration.

Until it comes to mobile, Pokemon Unite can be played exclusively on Nintendo Switch. It first went live July 21, meaning it reached the nine million player milestone in less than two months since release.
