Blastoise is making waves today, joining Pokemon Unite as a defender. What's more, they have a Holowear that gives them a green blazer, a yellow pin, and a little boater hat.

A water type Pokemon having a 'boater' hat is certainly fitting, but the cannons sprouting from Blastoise's back will no doubt crinkle their lovely new suit. Their license will set you back 8,000 Aeos coins or 460 Aeos gems. The Fashionable Style Blastoise Holowear, meanwhile, costs 400 Aeos gems at the Zirco Trading shop.

That means that all of Gen 1's starter Pokemon are now available with Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Pikachu. The only one absent is Eevee, if you count Let's Go. We do know that, in later updates, Mamoswine and Sylveon will be joining the roster but what's next after those two isn't clear.

Some fans are expressing hope for Gen 4 additions with the release of Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl, but right now, it's all speculation and wishlisting. At any rate, this new update did bring about some bug and text fixes on top of Blastoise, but no balancing as of yet.

Blastoise has a few different moves - Water Gun, Skull Bash, Hydro Pump, and Surf. However, types don't matter in Unite for balancing reasons so don't expect Water Gun to flush out Charizard.

As for stats, Blastoise starts with 3,225 HP, 100 defense, 70 special defense, and 150 attack damage. This maxes out at level 15 with 9,800 HP, 599 defense, 420 special defense, and 292 attack damage.

You can dive into Pokemon Unite right now and get playing with Blastoise on Nintendo Switch. Mobile users will be able to jump into the fun and make a splash come September 22.
