It’s been a busy week for Pokemon Unite, but pretty much only because of one story: that 40 dollar Holowear. Players were not happy when they saw the price tag on the Sacred Alolan Ninetales skin, with the consensus being that the developers were seeing how much they could get away with.Aside from that pricing bombshell, there was actually some good news. The player base continues to rise ridiculously quickly, and Slowbro mains found an interesting way of dealing with Blastoise players.Related: Destiny Deoxys Is The Ultimate Pokemon Kaiju Film

Pokemon Unite Hits 30 Million Downloads, Soars Past Other Mobile MOBAs

It’s safe to say that Nintendo will be marking Pokemon Unite down as a success, as it has already surpassed 30 million downloads, which is incredibly impressive considering how long it’s been out. This only actually accounts for mobile, so the real figure will be much higher given the Switch release had a big head start. The last figure we got from the Switch was early in September, when it had 9 million downloads. Given that was several weeks ago, it’s reasonable to believe that the game might not be far off 50 million hits across both platforms.

This Sacred Alolan Ninetales Holowear Costs $40 And Players Aren't Impressed

Pokemon Unite’s microtransactions haven’t exactly been uncontroversial, but the discourse has at least died down in recent weeks. That, however, changed late this week, when players discovered the Sacred Alolan Ninetales would set them back a whole 40 bucks. Costing 2499 Aeos Gems, players will have to shell out $40 on the microcurrency if they want the Holowear. This is a far cry from the cost of other skins, which are usually in the region of 300-400 Aeos Gems.

Slowbro Can Trap Blastoise's In Their Shell In Pokemon Unite

Blastoise just can’t catch a break. In the third bug that we’ve noticed since the water-type joined the roster on September 1, it turns out Slowbro has the ability to trap it in its shell if it hits it with a Telekinesis. This appears to happen because the Blastoise was using Rapid Spin, and the Telekinesis interrupted the animation for the move. This is similar to the bug which cut Squirtles head off - if the poor turtle was stunned while evolving, the head would fail to render, causing it to just continue without one.

Here's What The Medals In Pokemon Unite Actually Mean

Ever wondered what those post-match symbols actually mean? Players over on the subreddit have managed to figure it out. As you’d expect from a team-based online game, you get medals for being the top attacker, defender, and getting the most goals. However, you can also get rewarded for interrupting the most goals, and being the best all-rounder. Pokemon Unite has never been overly forthcoming with what various aspects of the game actually mean, leaving fans to figure much of it out, as they did with the goal messages that appear throughout the game, and the chances of landing a critical hit with all of the possible moves you can learn.
