Pokemon Unite has been out on mobile since September 22. As we already know, it has crossplay and cross-progression capabilities. However, as some players have discovered, the new features don't actually end there.
It turns out that you can go between the Switch and mobile versions of the game quite literally whenever you want. Mid-match, if you're tired of playing on Switch, you can simply boot it up on mobile and take it over from there.
Reddit user OpalSystem426 says they discovered this trick when their wifi cut out, and they were unable to continue the match of Switch. Thankfully, since they had linked their Pokemon Unite account to the mobile release, they could simply boot it up on that instead and finish the match - all without losing the Fair Play points you normally would for leaving a match early.
Others in the replies say they have used this little-known feature too, so it appears as if this was an intended mechanic in the two releases. It's certainly something to keep in mind if your wifi dies - you don't have to panic at all, and you can even go on to win the match if you're quick. And hey, if you end up ragequitting, at least you have a chance to log back on and not see your Fair Play score go down.
Of course, the main new feature following the mobile release is cross-play, which is likely to massively increase the playerbase. With any luck, this will reduce the number of bot accounts you run into playing online, which as we've previously reported, are pretty terrible when it comes to playing the same. They don't even seem to understand the rules, as they aren't too fussed with scoring goals.
Pokemon Unite initially launched July 21, exclusively for Nintendo Switch. It has since come over to mobile, having been available on the platform since late September.
